Hey all -
I had some time today and decided to start tearing down the interior in prep for new carpet. Mostly to get a plan together and see what I was dealing with. I ended up finding the build sheet (broadcast sheet?) under the rear seat! I thought it would have been under the driver side and lost hope of ever seeing it since the PO had the seats recovered.

Anyway, the sheet seems to match the fender tag (like it should) and also indicates the fury is a sure-grip. I'm hoping the clutch-pack in it is just worn out - because the rear tires don't spin like it's a sure-grip and I only burn rubber on the passenger side.

I did find something interesting tagged to the rear seat. Any ideas what this is? I'm guessing the numbers in the middle are a date (5/10/1968). Anyone seen this little black tag before?

Great find.. I found mine too when i pulled the tony seat out.. I was giddy like a school girl. It always amazes me that NO ONE looked or found them before us. Very cool find. That build sheet appears to me in great shape. Mine was brittle, but all there, as you could expect for a 46 yr old sheet of paper.

Are you leaving it in place or preserving it?

Looks a lot like mine...

Not real relevant, but here's the one from my 53 Windsor.

Every seat from all of my '66's have a similar tag.
My '67 seats do not.

I had guessed those to be tracking numbers for the assembly line, every seat on the old 49 was the same set of numbers with a slightly different last 2 digits... I assumed they needed to keep the seats matched up to the order for the cars, remember the upholstery shop would still have to put on the covers individually... lots of pieces to make a matching interior set.

Leave it for now, it's a bit crispy... I might be able to pull it, but would really hate to tear it up.
Find somebody to pull up on the springs, they move quite easy.
It would be safer to get it out now than risk damage.

I use tie wraps to hold the seat springs away from the paper while gently removing it. Weight it between something acid free for a period of time to get it as flat as possible. Then place in in an acid free clear page protector, make color copy's and then store it in a dry, dark place.

Thanks for the tip guys! I got my wife to help pull sheet out as I pulled the springs up. It in pretty good shape considering it had been hiding for so long. I was able to get a high quality scan of it and will get it into a plastic sleeve for safe keeping.

Some of us would be interested in a copy of that scan if you wouldn't mind sharing :)

I would love to know what the code values actually mean. . .
Some are the last digit of the 3 digit option code, some the last digit of the part number. The reality is most of the codes are for assemblies and those numbers are not found in the parts book. The 3 digit engine code takes in account many if not all the attached options, a rear end code will take in account car line housing series gear ratio brakes etc. I gave up years ago trying to figure them out.

I was afraid of that. . .
