Does the power antenna on a 70' Chrysler go down so the top of the mast is flush with the fender? Or does it stick up above the fender?

It seems like it should... But I have 2 power antennas, both are supposed to be the right antenna... One is even from Murray Park, so I would say it's the right one. Both don't go down flush... The mast still sticks out about 7-8" from the top of the fender. The mast can't go down any further in the assembly.

Every other car I've owned has the mast go down flush... But never owned a fusie with a power antenna until this car.

As you can see, the mast can't go down any further. There's no room.

Exactly the problem im having. I see a joint at the 6" part of the mast but have no idea how to lower it any farther so looking forward to your resolution...

Looks like the tube is missing.

Nope, the 70 antenna is a lot shorter. It doesn't have the room under the fender for that long tube.

Here's the one that was in the back of Critters's car.

Something is not right . B is too long to retract all the way in to A.
I'm trying to use logic here which may be a mistake. Lol.

If this was the only antenna like this, I would agree that something is wrong. But... The one in the car (I have no picture) is exactly the same.

I'm interested to know how this antenna dilemma is going to turn out too.

I have one of these out of a vehicle also. Is the chrome part that would sit against (on) the fender at a slight angle? This thing does not retract all the way. about 8 inches or so would be exposed.

Here's how this all started...

Back when I had the car painted, the shop was putting the fenders and inner fenders back together. So... I handed the antenna I had (which worked when I tried it, but it was suspect) to them and said "stick this in while you're at it". With the fender off, it's really easy to do.

So... I pick the car up and the antenna is sticking up out of the fender. I asked and the owner of the shop was adamant that it was right. He said he remembered them being that way.

I figured it was regular shop nonsense to get me out of there... although they did everything else right and that was the only thing I had an issue with.

So... I was going to pull the inner fender off and figure out what's wrong when I got a chance... The first few times up and down with the antenna and it stopped working in the up position and that's where it has stayed. Now the heater blower has stopped working and I have to pull the inner fender anyway, so I might as well address the antenna now.

In the mean time, I've tried to get a more reliable antenna or at least a core to work with. I ended up buying one from Murray Park... The one shown.

Yes, that is correct.

Big John is usually the guy with the answer.

Easy to predict that Stan would offer no useful feedback.
Thank you, brother. Love you too.

John, the Formal antenna you sent me is in a 1,000 pieces but I still have the one I took out of my car. You want that one for parts?
