In good shape. $25.00 ea plus shipping

1978 taillights are a one year only....

Those are the only year that have the silver highlights on the lens.

So these are 78 ?
They should be... lots of mix and match out there if the car was hit or the owner liked these better.

In the future, I think they will be worth more as a full set with the matching bottoms... as singles, your price seems fair to me.

I have the bottoms too. Just haven't posted them yet

Yes. 78 only with the silver highlights on the lens.

They will fit the other years too.

I would be the one person that would know they are 78 taillights.

There are a lot of parts on a 78 NY'er that are 78 only.

All the door panels, side glass, exterior door handles, exterior mirrors, fuse box assembly, grill, bumper guards, etc. and I'm forgetting some other stuff too. All these items are specific for 78 only NY'ers & Newports

Oh boy. Side glass ? Really

Yep, even the side glass on (78's only) were thinner in Chrysler's effort to reduce the weight on the 78 NY'er and Newport. They saved 7 lbs total with all the weight reduction efforts.

Will they interchange with the older cars

70 lbs wouldn't make a difference... 700 lbs would be negligible with a 440 and carburetor. Make it go better, but fuel economy? Nah.

I would guess individual engineers knew they were pissing in the wind lightening an existing part a few grams... but at a time of so much turmoil and with the company circling the drain... I suppose it was best to just follow along with whatever half-baked idea management handed them.

Oops, just remembered, This is C Body Bob's "for sale" thread... BTW Bob has the full set if anyone is looking.

No problem. I learned something. I too can't see the point in 7 pounds. In racing it can make a difference. But a big heavy street car.......
