Having grown up with a 57 300 C (still have it) And a 300 J from me being 10 years old (still have it too) And 20 year ownership of a 300 L 4 speed, The J is the most finicky but a real terror. The C is smooth power. Slow off the line but sure gets rolling at 40 mph. The L is a great cruiser...
Hmmm... hard to compare fresh to 50 yr old paint. But get your point. I know on my L, the old original paint is such a different green than the valve covers which have been painted in the last 20 years. My J which dad did that engine 20+ years ago, has slowly changed color over time. Weird what...
Certainly a very nice car. Gee, if this went for $82.5 wonder what mine might bring lol. Less factory options than on my 4 spd L. Dual antenna definitely dealer/owner installed.
Oh, not that I "dislike" my L 4 speed. Just not a good driver. The gearing is awful. Know a club member that has had one since new. Clutch is too small for the weight of the beast.
Was NEVER a 4 speed J built in production. 3 speed? Rare to say the lest! I have one of the 400, 50 in Black. Dad was the J consultant for the 300 club for years as well as the chief judge.
So, NEVER a 4 spd J in production. End of discussion there. 64 was the FIRST year for the A 833 NP 4 speed trans. And yes I do have one of the 4 speed 65 L four speeds. 96 coupes and 12 convertibles.
