Exactly What Wheels & Tires Fit C Bodies?

@SPF Required
I have a set of 70 300 wheelcovers in fair cond I could sell you at a reasonable price if it helps. Would allow you to pick the best to start from?
Shipping will be salty, though?

@SPF Required. two updates.

1. not counting my '67 imperials (Budd discs, no magnums just original steelies), and not counting my '66 300 that runs '73 calipers with magnums, and not counting '65's (all drums, with magnums), and not counting '67-'68 police (Budd discs, steelies), i have one '67 300 with discs/no magnums currently/no plans to use.

2. I only have Wheel Vintique Magnums, all 15x8, all 4.0 backspacing. i have no factory Magnums. i have no 15x7 Magnums.

3. the verdict. we tried the Magnums with the '67 Budds and ... viola. They HIT the Budd caliper. Eyeballing, a minimum 1/2 spacer would be needed to be sure (then Id have to be mindful of tire-rub issues with 245/60's I like). more clearance is needed between the hub face and the wheel so, as people have observed, bksp. would not appear to make any difference.

i conclude, now with my own experience, what everybody knows. you cant just throw any ol wheel, aftermarket or otherwise, over a Budd caliper. Shame on Magnums . I like that wheel and would not hesitate to go with properly fitted billet spacers in front to make it work.

It also has me thinking about how to better manage my Budd disc "fleet" -- honestly haven't given it enough thought/identified replacement part sources & strategies.

I appreciate the offer but the ones I have now are decent, just need some polish. I will keep you in mind if they don’t clean up well.

Thank you @amazinblue82 for the deep dive into your fleet. I think I am going to hold off on the magnum purchase for now. New tires and reconditioned wheel covers will have to do for the time being.

Thanks all for the help!

I am getting new tires today on the factory wheels. Venezia 225/70R15. These tires will also fit the future 15x7 magnums if I end up going that route.

I have always needed a spare for this car. Any decent sources out there for a plain ‘ol’ stock steel wheel for the spare? For reference, this is for a 68 300.

TIA.

looked up that tire. hadnt heard of it.

a great OE look, right stripe, robust size, and keeps options open for different wheel choices later.

on spare, id get a "modern" ('80's-'90's), Ford or Mopar, since that wont have too much positive offset) 15x7, 5x4.5 from a salvage yard, $20?, rattle-can flat black if needed, and roll with that (mindful of caliper fitment)?

alternatively, you could poll the board here for something local (no shipping) and correct (fits Budd caliper) if thats important for the look you wanna maintain?

regale us with pics please when youre done.

:thumbsup:

Holy cow, Batman. An old-school tire, in 70 series, with a whitewall.
I assumed @SPF Required got the whitewall for an OE look. there is a non-descript blackwall out there too
