After the rebuild of the 440 the shop suggested I need a better battery at least 850 cranking amps. I would appreciate some recommendations and your experiences. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dave. I'll likely not spend the coin for the resto version. Under the hood is far from original. Will look at the Die Hard.

For the trucks and the Challenger I pick up batteries at the dealer. OCD I suppose, through the years they've always been Die Hards, the classics I like the restoration batteries. They are expensive, but they look right. To my own confession I havent replaced the one in Adleen with a restoration battery, Im ashamed

Most of the batteries in Canada are produced by Exide whether its Cantrash or Dealer. The Eliminator 1000CCA is my favorite good warranty lots of stores if you need it. The new gel type batteries are nice but hard to deal with if they go dead and are expensive. Group 24 is what you will need. Group 27 no longer produced.

Always had good luck with batteries from Wal-Mart.
You can get a battery topper that makes your favourite battery look stock for 50 bux.
Legendary Battery Toppers : Reproduction Battery
But they only fit Group 24 batteries.
C bodies carried both group 24 and group 27 batteries with the 27 the preference..
Hope this helps!!

Advance Auto Parts has group 27 batteries. I have them in both of my Formal's.

I've switched to the AutoZone Gold batteries. They weigh a ton which means there's a lot of lead in there. 850 amp hours cranking power if I remember correctly.

I don't know of a light (in weight) group 27 battery. LOL!
They are all heavy as hell.

I have bought my last three at Costco. The last one was a group 34. It has the same length and width as a group 27, but is about 5/8 shallower so it requires a spacer underneath. just another option for you.
