Say goodbye to the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200

Yep, he said they did something special for him since he buys a lot of trucks for his business from them.

Didn't consumer reports give the 200 the rating as the worst car is the US?
Consumer Reports couldn't find their *** using both hands when it comes to cars, and have been that way for at least 35 years. Anything else, I don't know, but I would assume they are biased with everything. I wouldn't even waste my time reading their crap.

As far as I'm concerned The Chrysler Corp went out of business back in the 80's. The trucks have kept their heads above water but no Mopar's I'd own have been produced for a LONG time.

I find better use of my time than reading that rag, like spending time here. I actually heard it on the radio and wanted to know if anyone else heard the same thing.

Those SRT Neons were Suppose to be Little Rockets i heard. Anyone ever drive one?
They were/are fun if you can find one that hasn't been killed... Jer would love it... basically a k-car with an independent rear and a better turbo/management package... they were tolerant of a certain amount of stupidity too... but that just led the idiots to think they could "tune" it.

Daimler-Benz bought Chrysler only for the Jeep brand. We know what happened after that.
Now Fiat wants to focus more on Jeep and Ram trucks.

disagree look at what they kept... Freightliner, Western Star, Sterling...plus a market for the Sprinter...

The 90's LH platform was so good... I would love to trip upon a good condition cheap 97 LHS or Concord... 3.5L... was very good for it's day... of course the assholes who designed the 98 model killed that momentum. First gen LH cars had C body interior space and drove very nice. Unfortunately they got 90s Mopar resale values and most got beat to hell and neglected due to being valueless. When new, I spanked any available GM F body that I found whenever I drove one.

Nothing remotely similar between a Neon and ANY K-car or K-derivative. They are front wheel drive Chrysler products with four-cylinder engines. The similarity with Ks ENDS at that point!

There are lots of things that don't work out well. We all know them in hindsight. OJ and Nicole is an example that should enlighten but doesn't. Mopar made great cars and trucks since its inception but it also made greedy fools along they way that ran them into the ground. Ford kept things in the family and didn't need bailed out. That didn't mean they made better things, it just meant they had better control of the self serving execs.

Ford kept things in the family and didn't need bailed out.

The only reason Phord didn't need govmint money is that they mortgaged every asset they had in 2006 while you could still get financing. GM and Chrysler didn't see it coming and couldn't Phord raised 21billion in capital to get through the crisis

Do you think it was executives or owners children or both that caused that particular crash?

Freightliner is now the industry's worse P.O.S. In the Class 8 Trucking segment.
Western Star is a boutique truck that doesn't even cause a blip on tge radar.
Sterling... Never had a chance under Dailmer.
Sprinter is apples and cucumbers.

I couldn't agree more with "cantflip" on this. I bought two 1997 Concordes new from the dealer showroom, I liked them so much. Nothing I have ever driven including today can compare with the handling, ride, tautness and overall feel, including visibility of those first LH cars. And the air conditioning system in those cars had more capacity than my house - just outstanding. I still know of guys at the proving grounds today that maintain Chrysler has produced nothing better since then. Every time I get in one of mine to drive, I just exclaim to myself "how does a car get any better than this"? Bob Lutz had a big hand in the development of the first LH cars and it showed. The successive models just lost it, and got big for no good reason and made the driver feel like he was in a hole with poor visibility all around, especially the rear. Damn Diamler and what they did to ruin Chrysler by stripping them of all their cash for Mercedes development while cheapening the Chrysler line into oblivion under their reign. I still have my two Concordes, and desire no new car more.

I owned a used '93 LHS for about three years. Very nice car, but the A/C went tits up on it on day TWO of ownership. Fortunately, my buddy owned the dealership, and replaced that dash module that is part of the control pod. We drove that and got 26 mpg every day on the road, and about 23 in town. We hit 30 once, going to Denver with it. Very solid! We had to do very little to it, other that replace a rear control arm and bushings, and an emissions sensor. You are right, the best era for front-drive Mopars was the '90s in total. You just couldn't beat the room, handling and value in an LHS/300/Intrepid.

I have a 02 300m, way more room than my sister in laws 08 CTS holds its own against it in drag race but hers is awd so probably way heavier. Worst problems is chasing grounds and this is the car that the rodent chewed the trans wires.
