This may seem like a ridiculous question, but I feel I have to ask it. Strangely, I cannot find any information on the Internet about this (I keep running into sales links). I just bought a hood insulation pad and I'm looking to install it. The directions say to install it with the skin against the hood, which leaves the side with the bare fiberglass facing the engine. Can this be right? Is there any harm in installing it with the skin facing the motor?

The bare side does face the motor, always has. Will it hurt to do it in the reverse? Don't know, but that skin will tear in time; the fiberglass won't.

I think the skin side would shed any moisture build up keeping the underside of hood from rusting. not sure but I am going with that. lol

You need to install it as instructed, that is the way they came from the factory. The engine side of these pads never had a covering film.
