Ha ha, yes.. I guess driving an Imperial is already signaling that one is "financially careless", so to complete the picture, AND keep the car looking as close to the original as possible, it should also have the correct tire..

There's another guy with similar tastes around here and the majority didn't hate the Pimperial as I remember. He don't give a damn about our opinion. :D
Any pic's inhere, of the alleged Pimperial ? :-D

I think it is disappointing that this really nice example of a 1969 Imperial 2 door ended up with you. Lowering it or putting wide whites on it is nothing less than a discrace to it. Why didn't you just get some worthless 4 door to pimp?

The lowering is intended to restore it's original ride height, (read and check pic's post # 8), and as for the wrong tires.. I am sorry to disappoint, with my naughty "Fat WW tire thoughts", and happy to announce that I am going with he narrow stripe.

How is a 4 door worthless?

Going Down?

In there should be a few for Starters, there should be a thread with better ones and a link to some Video Report from a car meet I think, couldn't find it at the Moment.
Personally I'm not a big fan of These mods but it doesn't look as bad as I thought.

Food for thought... if you lower the rear AND install a trailer hitch, what will your loaded ride height be when towing? If it were me, I would correct the front ride height and leave the rear alone... at least until it has been hooked up to your camper. As to tire size and handling, you will get more benefit from a good quality tire than from a few mm's of tread width. Since you are planning to tow, look closer at 235/75/15XL tires... they were originally used on some Caddy's and limo's and have very good weight carrying capacity while still looking "right". I look at the tire's ratings when deciding... high wet traction, temperture and treadwear rated tires are not much different in price from others that may ride slightly better for OEM use. I like Michelin, but there are many good brands out there. I am also not a purest, I would chose a blackwall premium tire over a whitewall that I wasnt so sure of.

BTW how did the last parts order work out for you? Carburetor issues resolved?

I am surprised that Ross hasn't commented here.
He's on the road tooting his own horn,LOL Ha hah!
For those who are not aware,Ross is a professional Clarinet player.

I'm with the majority. The wide white walls are not right for your car! With the stock wheels the best would be the 2 striped tires, as original. But as Matt stated, they are crazy expensive... The best replacement would be 1" thin white walls.

But I'm with you about the ride hight. It looks like a stork and need to be lowered tastefully. Just a tab lower then the picture from the brochure. It makes the car look longer and more elegant floating down the road, imho.

If you want a tad lower, then go 2357015

Well.. actually, comparing was exactly what I did, and as you see, mine is several inches higher.. front AND rear.

Here, what we must assume it the correct height... picture shot kneeling, in a flat angle.. Note the lower line of the fender skirt, is flush with painted portion of the rear hubcap, even with picture taken in a FLAT vertical angle.

Here, the blue wonder.. clearly considerably higher, even with the picture shot standing up, in a downwards angle, so please include the shot angle in your "height calculations".. When it arrived, the front looked even higher than it does here, on these (sellers) pic's...

:-D

The black and white photo you showed in your earlier post should not be assumed to be factory correct - do you have a source to confirm your assumption?

I say this because I also have a 1969 Imperial coupe like yours in much the same condition and it has 30K miles on it, rust free. It also has some stuff in the trunk such as a radiator and some other stuff that isn't so light. And my car sits about the same height as yours in the rear, even with some parts in it and certainly is not as low in the rear as that black and white photo. Mine is, however, a slight bit lower in the front.

Its your car, so you of course can do what you like to it. To me, a lowered, otherwise stock vehicle, looks tired and used up or one is trying to make it look fast and sporty, which wasn't the purpose of these cars. With so few of these 69 coupes around in the condition of yours, it is sad to me to see what you are doing to it. But fortunately, you being in Denmark, I will never have to see that car once you mess it up.

While I didn't read it specifically for Mopars of the day, it was common practice to have cars loaded for press and Advertising pics to make them look more road hugging.
The drawings from the years before were even more idealizing by also changing proportions like the masters "Fitz and Van" who worked for GM till the early 70s. Get a load of that:

If you want it to look bad *** go all the way here is the Pimperial, but those wire wheels are a fortune.

Germany. Opel was the last assignment for Fitz and Van. They became too costly. AFAIK they actually travelled to These places they depicted.

The GS Commodore models were sort of a Euro sized Skylark GS roughly said.

The correct ride height is in the fsm. Very easily adjustable on the front anyway, just make sure you have it aligned, or better yet take it to an alignment shop and do both at the same time. That way you can adjust the height to however you like it if the factory settings don't agree to your liking.
Make sure who ever aligns it follows the procedure in the fsm. Lots of these younger guys aren't familiar with torsion bars, and its critical to do the ride height first. Otherwise the handling can become very nervous.

What driveline? And how does it perform? I will never own one and likely never see one... but I like its look.
