will have to check Bills build to see if he puts K frame on first or puts the rear end on first but definilty no drop down
 
He used a big A-frame crane to lift the body and remove the front half of the rotisserie. Then he attached the front clip. Then adjusted the height of the rear half of the rotisserie to clear the rear and then attached the front spring mounts. Finally he removes the last of the rotisserie to set the body on the rear end and bolted on the rear spring mounts. Considering he works by himself the process probably sounds a lot easier than it actually is. Pictures.

Outstanding! Just what I really wanted to see, as it confirms a plan of attack I am considering too. What I am going to do is send a rolling shell over to my body & paint guy next door while I do all the mechanical stuff. We were talking about an efficient way to do all this including reassembly and we ended up pretty much with the method Paul is using, but not using a rotissere per se, but a cradle much like one. One step we are pondering though is that my body/paint guy insists on aligning all the panels including fender to door gaps, hood to fender gaps, etc before doing the painting (in other words, not doing these parts off the car and then reassembling them when the stub frame is already in place - that never yields satisfactory results in his opinion - and from restorations I have observed in general, his method does yield better gaps and the absence of wrench marks on bolts and other defects). But I am not sure how installing the stub frame will affect these prior adjustments if it is done last. I think it might affect them, so we will have to experiment with this on the front end first. But the Chrysler assembly plants did it this way from what I have seen, so maybe it will work with everything aligned and then installing the stub frame. We might end up installing the stub frame before aligning and painting the body and then masking it sufficiently during the painting process to protect the restored stub frame finish and then install the engine from above and the transmission from below. Thanks for taking the time to post your process. Beautiful car. How you drove your convertible right after the fresh restoration is something I marvel at, but given the confidence you have in Paul's clearly top notch results, it is understandable.
 
Loved the pic's of the stub frame and rear diff, now we just need a painted body.

Nice, a "frame off" restoration! Question, are all the rebuilt parts powder coated or does he paint them? How were the exhaust manifolds treated?

Paul uses high heat ceramic paint but uses a couple of colors to get his desired result...they look pretty trick actully
 
k...in looking at the snow tires in couple pics guess its time to start thinking about tires....will be going BF Goodrich Radial TA;s on a 7inch road wheel rim...normally would go to something like a 235-75-R15...thoughts..opinions..pictures welcome...thanx
