My original crossover pipe "ram induction couplers" are all but gone. Anyone have a pair, or know where to get them, or use a like fuel-proof 1.5" id to 1.75" id coupler, or where they can be found? Thanks

Ps. 9-48-152 on diagram corresponds to part number 1947 403 (all years)

You can get large fuel hose at McMaster Carr McMaster-Carr

livzfortheking >>> Thanks for the lead. I called. Very nice folks. They have only 1.5" or 2" but nothing that tapers or flairs from 1.5" to 1.75".

commando1 >>> It's great to be here.

BIGBARNEYCARS >>> Off to NAPA now. Nope. Nothing in the archives.

I bought a 7" length of 1.5" inside diameter fuel hose an will attempt to stretch one end to 1.75" id

1.5" fuel hose wouldn't stretch ... any other ideas anyone?

Looks like an excellent substitution if it will work... but its a shame too if that is the only option left.

R40B-150/175

5 Ply Glossy BLACK Silicone Reducer. Made in USA.

At least they are cheap enough to not worry too much if they dont last like the originals.

O.K. De Soto Joe, You are obviously not among the eastern 300 club membership or you would already have this guyz information. This guy advertised the correct balance tube hoses a while back and probably still has them F/S. $38 + shipping for the set. Rinaldi and Sons 207-474-2611...BTW, I think your Napa store blew you off IMHO, Jer

I have emailed Rinaldi and Sons and will call in the morning. Thank you for the lead!

You are correct, I think the young woman at the counter, the other guy working the counter, and the manager, all didn't have a way with the NAPA BIG system, even with the part number in hand and pictures I brought. Instead, they sold me a scrap piece of 1.5" fuel hose and wished me luck. Also you are correct, I am not a 300 club member. We had a 61 Imperial, then a 66 Belvedere, when I was a kid, and I've had several other "Chrysler products", but not a 300.

I bought a 68 Charger Black/White 318-Torqueflight to get to College.

For $750, I bought from a friend, a 65 Coronet with a "Ramcharger" two lights grill, and had the desire to build a Max Wedge, instead of a Hemi, because those parts were far cheaper in the early 80's. While building the engine, a drunk in a Honda jumped the curb and totalled the Coronet, but his insurance company let me keep the engine and transmission. I'd lost my way when I'd traded a dusty 1960 Ram Induction intake (manifolds only) for that Max Wedge's Crossram. When the Coronet was destroyed, by the drunk, I gave up on getting carbs for the Crossram, and traded that intake for a NOS in-the-box 340 six pack intake, for a ratty 70 Challenger convertible I had just found.

The shredded white convertible top did go up and down, the white interior was needing a lot of work, and the cracked fibreglass rear fender flares needed replacing (in the end I replaced the whole body from a junk yard gutted 71 hdtp, except the original two-scoop Plum Crazy power budge hood). But that POS did start right up from a hose leading from the passenger seat floor gas can, so for $550 bucks I figured I couldn't lose, as I drove it home.

Turns out the sludge on the engine was imported, a junk yard 318, not the 340 the vin code promised. Two years later no 340 blocks anywhere (pre-internet), but the body was looking good in primer grey, new top on (what a struggle), and interior all but done. No engine. A 318 with a Six Pack wasn't thrilling me.

So one day I move some stuff in the back of the garage, and that 'Max Wedge' long block (for the Honda-destroyed would-be "Ramcharger" Coronet) stares me down.

Woke up the next morning, went down to 7-11, the new Recycler paper was out. Sure enough a guy had a 440 six pack complete for sale. My NOS in the box 340 six pack in trade, and some cash later...

A 1963 413 60-over to 426 with 11.0/1 Max Wedge pistons, a 284 purple cam, 440 Six Pack intake, 906 heads, rebuilt 727, 3:23 posi- 8 3/4, really did fly up over 127mph, of the 150mph possible, by the gauge in that Challenger convertible. No hood pins, and as the hood started to lift up at 100mph, at 127mph, I backed off.

I sold the Challenger, as it wasn't much for just cruising, and years later bought someone else's dusty 1961 Ram Induction set complete, except the couplers are worn out.

So thanks again for pointing me to Rinaldi and Sons, so hopefully, for $38 plus shipping, I can get back to my fin fun roots.

O.K. Joe and thanks for the thanks AND the story. You're in good handz on this site and becoming ah 300 Club member iz not required. SOOOOO! Do your '61 DeSoto have the cross ramz or are you gonna stuff 'um into ah 440 powered Omni lol, Jer

Do your '61 DeSoto have the cross ramz

No De Soto yet... So hard to find a 61 2dr. that isn't 99% rust or over $20,000, and by the time I've spotted them in the past (in the $4-$8k range) they are gone.

61 was a sad year for De Soto, besides it demise, only the 361cid 2bbl engine, and I've never seen one for sale with a manual transmission. 1960 De Sotos had Ram Induction (Power Charge-Ram Charge-Ram Induction) as an option, a handful were made. I saw a Power Charge 1960 De Soto on the internet awhile back, and in old ads. I'm sure the set-up could be "dealer installed" item on a 1961, but not likely at a De Soto dealer, as they were all POed at being put out of business.

Your lead is a good one: $74 two couplers, two clamps, shipping included; Greatly appreciated!

Ps. If you have a 61 De Soto 2dr. or a lead on one (in restorable [read not 10's of thousands of $$,$$$]) I'm interested.

Glad you found the balance tube hoses Joe. Lookz like Rinaldi iz getting more and more proud of them tho'. $74?????????? Last onez I bought from Napa were $16 ah piece plus ah couple bucks shipping from Columbus, Oh. to Ann Arbor, Mi. BTW, You didn't answer me when I ask you what you were going to stuff them into. There are ah few tweaks and nuances I'm aware of that I can probably steer you thru' that will ease the install if you need the help Jer

Do Not pass on an offer like that... free GOOD advise is hard to come by...

Welcome to the site. Hope you find your Desoto project cheap and relatively rustic free.

You didn't answer me when I ask you what you were going to stuff them into.

If you rebuild it... Ram Induction

It will come... 1961 Desoto 2dr.

Found the other two clamps. So just the Couplers are $21/ea+Shipping from Rinaldi.

Tried a different NAPA today, and they all got on and tried there damnedest for 45minutes. Found the diagram, obsolete part pic. and still no find on their country wide web site. Did your NAPA guy find those couplers in a NAPA database or from hopping around his internet connections? Do you remember which NAPA in Columbus Ohio found yours? My local guys tried all their local and far away and NAPA connections and came up with nil. When installation comes around... I've earmarked your page and offer, thanks again.

O.K. I'm standin' by, ask away....You do know that the pic you have of the ramz are the '63+'64 short ramz Rite?...The cast iron headerz and heat riser tubez make that impossible to confuse with the '60+'61 long ramz, lol. Happy Trailz, Jer
