Hello,

So I am doing a pretty big project coming up in the next few months and My car needs a top in order to become road worthy. The interior isn't done yet and body isn't painted yet but I would like a top on it so that I can drive it around ( and not worry about the rain..)

The Hydraulics on my top work. I was quoted 3500 bucks to put a top on mostly because it doesn't have any of the old top left. But that would be completely refinished and stuff.

In my case, would it be worth me getting the 300 dollar DIY kit from ebay?

Thanks

Eric

Is that car in Fort Drum?

Sounds to me like that $3500 is refinishing all the metal parts etc. You can do a lot of that yourself and then have the top installed and save a ton of $$. I can get you a name of someone that I think would do it a lot cheaper, but you might have to bring it to Syracuse.

Its not at Ft drum yet, its still in Michigan.

Yes that included replacement and refinishing of everything. I was considering just keeping the frame down and covered up for a while then do a bunch of the refinishing work myself. Then just pay someone to install the top also.

I might hit you up for that number.

Ouch....

Just looking at it quick, the window and well liner are marked up 100%.

While not as nice as removing and bead blasting etc., you could do a lot to make a top frame look nice with some scotch brite and a few cans of Rustoleum spray. It depends on what level you want to finish the car to. A driver gets the spray cans and a 100 point show car gets the strip and repaint .

Thats what I was thinking, their prices are crazy.

This car will be a driver for a while and the frame will get the Rustoleum treatment.
