This 440-4 GT was in Belleville Ontario Canada. In 2013 its was for sale! It set someone back 43K USD to own it, but it seems like a real nice one. Okay which one of yoos mugs bought dis one eh?
looks an awful lot like Daves V code car.

UPDATE: Carsten informs us that this was the Blue Vancouver Isl. car below, now fully restored. Wish they would update that registry!

Moving across the mainland to the pacific....

Trademe dot com…where the kiwi’s shop… is where New Zealanders found this burnt-orange GT for sale in 2010.

In rough shape outside, the orange interior was in pretty good shape. Despite the duct-tape sealed rear window and well surface rust colour roof sans vinyl, If you wanted it, it Would have cost 18K dollars… don't know which kinda dollars New Zealander's use tho...

Interesting story-

A GT came up for sale on the Seattle craigs list in 2008 for 3000$. It disappeared…

Then months later it turned up –in the exact same condition- in the UK!

The sellers – a “boutique” auto sales business -posted it for sale with several pics and long descriptions detailing this fine American muscle car. Price was 10 times what they paid for it. Yes I’m editorializing when I ask the question: for THAT kind of money, why couldn’t they have done a little work on this thing like, oh, maybe a paint job? Maybe a friggen vinyl roof?

Comes with genuine American compressed air still in the tires.

Now deep in the heart of Europe we find the last couple of GT's on the list, starting with this one:

YUP! We all know about this one... Just mentioned again a couple of replies back....
It was in mendocino county ( san fransisco bay area) on the craigs list in 2014. Eventually sold to a foreign buyer who shipped it to the Netherlands.
Just so happens a member of this web site who lives near/in the Amsterdam area discovered it was in his neck of the woods and went to great effort to make it his.

Congrats again on your acquisition Carsten. Hope your body man can bang out that rear quarter! We expect progress pics real soon!

As an aside, I noticed this one had the rim blow steering wheel instead of the 3 spoke sport wheel… factory to factory variation or was it a buyers preference?

Our friend Carsten also mentioned this one too...

This one was in the registry as a GT 440-4, white with black vinyl roof, belonging to a man in GA.

Then it was sold to a foreign buyer, and ended up in Italy! Owner's name given as "Marco", it was said to be under restoration, but Carsten reports it belongs to "Antonello", so it must have changed hands again.

we don’t know whats become of it since then. If anyone knows the guy personally, tell him we want pics of that one too!! Hey, is that a nifty Firebird hiding in the back?

A GT 440-4 in Faulkengerg Sweden
(looks a bit rough, hope its getting some TLC)

A GT 440 in Ojebyn Sweden

and last, Kjells 440-4 GT in Norway
(sadly, we were informed by a member in the S/23 thread the Kjells passed away)
UPDATE: if I'm correct, Carsten reports this car was "the car" from Washington state... the Seattle car that was for sale in the UK around 2009.

as an aside, I note this one has those "stubby" wheel centers too.
So anybody know what the deal is? They both correct or are these earlier/later wheel centers used as proxy's for the hard to get standard long neck type?

So there it is gentleman...
Everything I could find on GT's around the world + the white GT in TX waiting for a resto and the GT mentioned by member detmatt as belonging to some guy in the Detroit area who is hiding it away.

Thanks to members who chimed in on what happened to some of these cars.


So how many are still undiscovered?
well, a completely arbitrary guess is that if we "know" of some 50 GT's still in existence (excluding the junked cars, and the V codes), and assume we've found 75% of what is still out there (which at 100% would put us at almost exactly 10% of total production), then there are only 16 cars left to find... assuming I did the math right.

By all means, if you find one...or HAVE one, post it!

Some cars are the SAME cars just swapped hands in the meantime. Dave is familiar with the problem from his Polara vert registry.

Ok, here we go:
1.) The FT8 brown SFGT which went to England (UK) is the same which was then owned by Kjelle from Norway and AFAIK is still in Norway since Kjelles death.

2.) the blue SFGT with the dent in the front bumper you just posted from Vancuver Island is the same as the blue one which was on ebay for 43k $. There was a restoration inbetween.

3.) the EF8 green Fury from Alberta Canada (registry) is the green one shown here before with California liscense plates. When it had the California plates it sat in WA state and was for sale.

BTW: Both SFGT in sweden are currently under restoration

So if you take the standard formula of a 10% survival rate for most cars, excluding period "rare " modles, [e.g. 6BBL V codes/300Hurst et. al.] we are right on track,...with approximately 66 examples left of the total production of 666 units existing. Interesting isn't it?

I know of 5 GT Furies not on this "list".

Now you need to break it down into SPD and options, and document the differences between early production and later production. Different plant assembly procedures/processes etc.

Point in question; did all Sport Fury GT cars have a battery heat shield standard, or not? Some do,...and that is a "fleet" H/D option. Was it part of the A52 package or not?

some clarifications about the white GT in Italy. I bought the car in Georgia some years ago as a project...did all the bodywork and paint, interior, and engine machine work. I was disappointed by the way the car looked....I hate white cars...and so swapped the car to my friend Marco for some work on a 69 Camaro and on a 300 F. Marco moved to the USA last year, so he gave me the car to sell. A friend of mine, Luca, bought the car and I finished the car for him. Now it's almost finished, and ready to drive.
Now, the question is....why buy a white car if you hate white cars? Was thinking about a color change...but couldn't do that. So I am looking for another GT.....not white

Which is why they need to be tracked by VIN. I never realized when I started paying attention 30 plus years ago that you could locate this many of a rare car or how they moved around the world.
People surrendering the VIN information can be an obstacle

I wonder why it is that so many more GT's seem to be in Seattle, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, Canada... The assumption being if more survivors come up for sale in those states they must have gotten the most GT's. GTs are found clustered mostly north central and pacific northwest states, with only a onesey or twosey scattered to states like TX, AZ, and 1 I found in FL, SC, VA, PA, and a couple of GT's in NJ. Seems hardly any ended up along the east coast unless they were brought there by 2nd or 3rd party buyers. Didn't anyone in NY or CT wanna buy a GT in 1970?? Just one guy in PA wanted one? Not a soul in Illinois wanted one? You get the idea.

But i digress. I found ANOTHER GT!

This bad boy looks just like mine, only this one seems to be in much better condition structurally.

It was "for sale" in WI, but the asking price was conspicuously absent... usually meaning a ridiculously high dollar value being applied to a car in a condition that couldn't justify that price. To wit: this one has no engine, no transmission, no power seat option, no power window option, no rear window defog, no console/floor shifter option, no AM/8 track option. Just a basic GT with T code 440-4, bucket seats, AM radio, and A/C.
