z bar - 68 fury III - alternatives, pictures, dimensions

Thank you for your contributions and pictures. I have managed to assemble everything i need minus a z bar to to convert my 68 Fury to a 4 speed.

Has anyone used an a-body (short tailshaft) transmission and just got a longer driveshaft?

For the Z-bar, I used a B-body. Cut a section out of the middle and then butt weld the two ends together with the correct indexing.

As far as shorter tailshaft/longer driveshaft, it doesn't work that way.

What's different? Shifter location and trans mount? I saw the B/E shifter location you posted in a different thread. As Doba used in a different post teach me Obi-wan.

The distance from trans mount to bell housing pivot is the same no matter the trans body style what ever. Mainly because any trans went in any body, forget the A body trans the shifter mount is totally wrong but yes it will go in a C body, mount to bell housing are same. The only thing that changes is the distance or length of Z bar from bell housing pivot to frame bracket. The other body variable is pedal to Z bar rod mainly from the way the pedal hangs to frame type. I replace that rod with a threaded rod and heims ends the adjuster section that goes from rod to clutch fork can be done this way also. The clocking of the levers on the Z bar is pretty close to the same if not identical remember the clutches no matter the body style is always the same distance from transmission mount.

Get a hold of me. for the missing link!

I'm trying to verify the z bar that I have is the C-body one. I'm unable to accurately determine the
overall length of the tube from the above pictures.
The tube on mine is 9-15/16" long. Is that the correct length?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe there were two different C-body Z-bars. One for the three speed manual transmission and the other obviously for the 4 speed.

I am looking for ideas/suggestions on obtaining a z-bar for a 68 fury 4-speed swap.

Is there something similar that can be used, or modified to work?

Does anyone have pictures that could be used to guesstimate dimensions and angles from?

Is there a place where someone could find manufacturing specs?

Thanks for your help on what is probably a worn out topic, but I searched the forums to no avail.
do yourself a favour and go with a hydraulic clutch setup. no ******* with z bars geometry and hours of pissing around. trust me. I have a hydraulic setup on my 35 Plymouth streetrod and it works flawlessly.
