65 Fury belt line trim clips

I received some clips that I was able to make work. They measure the same as the factory clips pn: 6001 496. These clips are the closest I have found to the originals but are black in color and they have the correct pegs that fit the 3/16" holes. I have done a lot of research on this and found...

65 Fury belt line trim clips

This information is not not correct. The clips referenced are too wide. I tried to delete this post but it has been up too long. Sorry.

65 Fury belt line trim clips

I dug out a spare door belt molding I had. I measured the opening for the clip. It measures .28" (just over 1/4") I ordered a few of them that appear to be just under 5/16" wide and will fit a 3/16" hole. I will let you know if they work. Probably be a week or so. Wish me luck.

65 Fury belt line trim clips

Thank you for the update! So, I guess the 3/8" measurement they show on their ebay auction is not correct. I am glad I had enough of the original clips when I did my car years ago. I think I still have an extra door belt molding. I am gonna visit my local paint store to see what they can come up...

65 Fury belt line trim clips

You tried them and couldn't make them work huh? I have not tried them but they show to be 3/8" wide that is the same as the factory clips but didn't have the 3/16" mounting. I hope you didn't drill your holes to 1/4" in vain. I saw these black clips that look the same as the white ones and...

65 Fury belt line trim clips

The 65 Fury didn't use those type of clips on the belt line molding. They use a 3/8" wide plastic clip with a push in center peg in a 3/16" hole. I have not found anyone that makes them. The closest clip that will work is this one. But, you have to drill the holes out to 1/4" to make them...

Carb rebuild....how dumb can one get

Good luck locating and fixing the front end noise over bumps but I just wanted to mention those 23 year old tires. Just because they have not been out in the elements doesn't mean they are trustworthy. The sun doesn't do them any favors but the rubber can still get dry rot from time. I guess I...

    1965 Sport Fury Front Bumper

All 65 Furys used the same front bumpers. Not sure if 66 were the same.

FM Radio rear speaker volume/reverb knob location

I used to have a factory reverb in a 1960 Pontiac many years ago. From what I remember, the reverb delayed the sound to the rear speaker 1/10th of a second and created an echo so to speak. It was pretty neat until I went over a railroad track or bumpy road causing it to vibrate way too much.

    Fan Shroud

My 65 Sport Fury has a factory 2 piece shroud. I think all C bodies with A/C got them but don't quote me on that. You should be able to find one in a salvage yard. Get the fan and the side brackets that go with it and it should all bolt right on your existing setup.

Fender Bolts - 1965 Sport Fury.

I restored my 65 SF back in the 80's. I used all of the original bolts. The upper bolts along the hood are 5/16" X 1" with a 7/8" Washer as are the core support bolts. The 1/4" X 3/4" with 3/4" washer are used to bolt the inner fender and go in from underneath. The nuts are all captured nuts so...

1965 Sports Fury - Rear Panel

Could very well be the case. When I restored my car back in 1985, it was an original white car with a white bumper filler. I looked at a few 65's in junk yards and they were all Fury III except one. The Fury I, II, or III cars all had argent silver panels while the Sport Fury was body color. It...

1965 Sports Fury - Rear Panel

I have three Fury III deck panels that say otherwise. If you have one it is because someone painted over a Sport Fury panel. Same with side moldings. I was hoping you were right though.

1965 Sports Fury - Rear Panel

Fury III had the argent silver paint in place of the engine turn of the Sport Fury. Also, Fury III got painted inserts in the side moldings in place of the engine turn.

1965 Sports Fury - Rear Panel

Not to start an argument but I have had my Sport Fury since 1985 and I agree the the bumper filler panel up front is painted body color on Sport Fury and Argent silver on Fury I, II, and III. I don't recall any that were different. There is not much stainless on a 65 Fury other than the top of...

Looks Great! If it stays too hot outside, and if you need more practice, I have a couple panels that could use your expertise.
