    Tank but no tank

There is another solution you may look into. Remove and inspect the tank thoroughly. If it's not too bad try a cleanup at a professional shop. If there are questionable areas you may get the metal repaired after the tank has been completely degassed of fumes. You'd be surprised the talent that's...

    Trunk Floor 66 FURY III

Ross has a good suggestion there but you would have to ensure the replacement floor is in very good condition and cut exactly where you want it. Just how much of the floor is gone anyway? If it's just the flat portion a good metal shop can fab one including rolling the beads for strength. If the...

power steering pump notes, shuffle and issues

I believe if you look between the mounting plates you will see a rubber bumper or maybe its disintegrated. It acts as a bumper and shock absorber and is usually mounted towards the front of the pump more towards the pulley where all the belt pressure is applied. If this rubber collapses, the...

    V-belt for power steering

As the toothed belt wraps on the pulley, the teeth close and grip better than any smooth side belt. If you bought a Gator Back or high quality Goodyear the belt would get notches on the outside of the belt to cool the inner fibers which make the belt last longer as there is little internal...

Fuel pump repacement, what a *****:

It wasn't meant to be harsh, just a reminder that sometimes there are things that you really shouldn't get into if you're not familiar with or don't possess all the information on. My father in law once drained the tranny and added four more quarts to the engine. Wrong drain plug I guess...

Fuel pump repacement, what a *****:

If it took you hours to change a fuel pump then it would be a job best left to someone else who knows what their doing. Under no circumstances should you try to change your timing chain.

Need Details on Trim for Trunk Lid of 1965 Fury III

Having rescued three of these panels from car hordes I came to the conclusion that they had no paint inside the letter outlines except one panel for a Sport Fury. This one had machine turning above and below the centre with satin black in the letter recesses. I replicated this panel as I found...

    65 hood trim

Yes they are the same. Last year I put a '66 grill in my '65 just to see who would pick up on it. It's hard to see the front of the car and the back simultaneously.

do you have or add a coolant expansion tank?

Conventional coolant expands 5 to 6% when hot. If you don't have an expansion tank the first thing you notice is that the coolant level in the top tank of the rad is slightly down when cold. Not so with an expansion tank. The truth is, any air in or about a cooling system is not good.

    Dual exhaust dumps

One reason not to do this is that the moisture coming out of the dumps collects up in the axle housing at low to no speed. Rust and condensation results from this. I run a TTI system and installed resonators just before the bumper in the straight portion that runs parallel to the fuel tank...

Speedometer issues on my 65 fury

There are a few checks you can do to figure out exactly what's going on. Pull the gear at the transmission and check for wear. Sometimes the teeth become so sharp from wear, they skip on the output shaft's helical cut gear at higher speeds. If you have an adjustable cable mount at the...

The $40,000 '65 Chrysler Newport... What Happens When a C mates with an SRT

Come on! You love it and you know it. No crap on this beauty top to bottom. Lean back, close your eyes and imagine what it's like to drive. No wallowing on corners but no harsh ride either, brakes that will stop it as fast as it accelerates, power to push by any rice burner in style, 26 mpg's...

    Radio problems

There was one item I forgot to mention and that was the type of ignition wires you have. Best they be the type with "Noise Suppression" printed on them to ensure their resistance is sufficient to stop RFI.

    Radio problems

What you need is a transformer rated 12v in and 12v out. Use to be able to buy them at Radio Shack and some auto sound retailer/installers. The way they work is the primary 12v windings are separate from the secondary 12v windings out so noise from the electrical system can't transfer across the...

    1965 fury gas tank

I went through your dilema for two years trying to find a replacement. Even considered buying a tank that could be modified for the filler but a top notch welding shop said the metal was just to thin to guarantee good attachment of a filler pipe. Not the kind of thing I want hanging on the back...

    Diagnosis

I don't know how long you've had it, or what it ran like before this issue but there are a number of such causes. If you're going to spend good cash having a mechanic diagnose it there are some things you can check yourself. some will depend on the tools on hand. 1-First and foremost the fuel...
