Great history! But the writer obviously had poor taste/obvious bias! Certainly wasn't ugly, but may be that's especially by today's standards.

the 1/4 mile time beat 383 RRs and SBs if the came with 3,23 rear ends being equally factory stock

Awesome article! However, equally important to CHP was the ability to push a disabled big rig or bus out of traffic lanes (using push bumper). Plus, it could do it over and over, all day long, with a wide open throttle pursuit thrown into the day, too. High speed, torque and durability is the Highway Patrol trifecta!

This Magazine is the August 1969 issue of "Hi-Performance Cars"

Other magazines with mention of the CHP 69 Polara
"Science & Mechanics", August 1969
"Road Test", November 1969
"Super Stock & Drag Illustrated" July 1969
"Motor Trend" June 1971 (run outs)

If anybody knows of any others let me know.

Thanks,

Alan

Alan,

can you share the articles from the above named mags?
I do have the article from the "super stock&drag illustrated" July 1969
