Was that rotor your reliability issue? I sure hope so... love to see you at Carlisle if you're inclined to try this year.

The rotor, the plug wires, distributor, fuel pump and carb were all issues. It still doesn't run right however and I need to pull the engine/trans to work on the firewall so when I do my father in law and I are going through the engine to see what kind of abortion it is.
nice work as always. love the license plate!
Those will be my new plates. Its getting there.

After 5 years of no heat in this garage my father in law and I are putting the wood stove back in........

Looking really good. That carb reminds me of when I worked on the Polara and just put a kit in the original. The thing has run very well ever since. Hopefully we'll see this one at Moparfest. When this is done are you planning to finish the ragtop?

This car will be about 80% done this year and I'm going to focus on the convertible through the summer and through till next spring.

More surprises, had to torch off most of the rear bolts.....good thing this bumper isn't the one in using......

Found more rust.....I already know that I'm going to find more rust as I go.

Attack and conquer........

I'm Canadian, rust doesn't scare me.........just death and taxes (mostly taxes as an Ontarian)

So my father in law helped me this afternoon.......he told stories of the 69 Polara, 72 polara, 75 gran fury, 77 fury, 78 fury, 79 gran fury, 80 gran fury, 81 1st regis, and half a dozen 83-88 Caravelle's.....

We found some horror stories...

Did the local blacksmith make up those control arms?

Great googa-mooga ! Nick: If it was anyone but you owning this car. . .

The funny part is, my father in law took one look and said "holy ****, it's had it"

I looked and said "that's not that bad I was expecting worse"

Rust doesn't even scare me anymore.....

I try to be optimistic, I found the water leak that has existed for the last 20 years....

As for the control arms, they have to be home made, I've never seen anything like them, but they do explain my caster issues......the balljoints are welded into them and aren't consistent from side to side.......so...

I ordered new control arm bushings, upper ball joints and adjusters......

Thank God I bought that 69 sedan it's become the best investment I could have for both cars.....I'm glad I essentially kept the whole car in pieces....

Wow, a cowl swap! always wanted to see one of those....

Not quite, I'm paranoid about screwing up the geometry of the windshield and roof.

So I'm going to basically peel the skin off and swap skins.

That control arm looks like something you would find a stocker race car. Whoever made it, did pretty good work.

They look good but aren't geometric from side to side and because of that it has caster and camber issues...so I have the set that came off the 69 parts car......I'm also going to put the 8.75 in this winter that I bought from the Newport Tom parted out

I also bought an A body 8.75.....it's already sold it too a friend of mine. But not before I pulled the gearset for myself.

I'm going to use it in the 73 for the summer....

Is that just some light surface rust on the gears? They look crusty in the pic
