Just purchased a new trans from Kieth at 727specialist.
727 with strert tire upgrades and a converter.
Going to hopefully go pick it up next week.
Anybody ever bought one? Thoughts?

He does really good work. I bought txsm parts from him. He knows Mike (Newp) from Indiana. I've been to his shop....garage behind his house.

Cool, was just wondering. Sent the guy a pretty good chunk of change that took me all summer to save, and didn't get a reply.
I'm sure it's just because of the holiday weekend. I'll try again next week.

Not bad, $900 gets a rebuilt stock unit. Does anyone have an opinion on the added drivability value of the overdrive for our C's? $3600 gets the overdrive but is it worth it? Highway cruising maybe?

I do not think it is worth it unless for some reason you need lower rear end ratio and still want to be at 2400 rpm at 75 mph. If you have 2.94 or 3.23 rear with 15" wheels and tall rubber you are already in the mid 2k range at 70mph.

Thanks! I've got 2.76 sure-grip, should be fine then.

But, if you go with a 3:55 or 3: 73 with the overdrive you have more giddy up, or leave the 3:23 and cruise the open highway in those big mid western states at 90 mph

Waiting for spring to do the install, but I just picked it up.
It looks nice and professionally done.
I opted for the street tire upgrade and a 2400 stall converter $1600..
A nice Christmas present to myself.
I can't wait until spring!!!!
Also picked up throttle and kickdown cables from Lokar. Should be pretty smooth..

have same in the 70.....you wont need the overdrive....car cruises along nicely 70 without strain...cant wait to put that 2 barrel to work....perfect road trip gears lm thinkin...
Drove clear across Canada with 2.76 suregrip in back of a 727 ... mighty fine ride!

What advantage are the Lokar cables?

No real advantage if the factory rods, and linkage is in place, and working correctly.

However if pieces are missing or going from a small block to big block, they take a lot of headache away.

I love them though. Have a set on the D300. Everything was hillbillyized and trans didn't shift correctly. Installed them, and problems went away.

Also just installed a set on the Monaco. Going from a small block to 440, didn't have the correct pieces. Made the swap even simpler.
