I hope its alright to post these here. A bit too c body related to put in the general discussion.
These are just a few of my original dealer promotional models. If there is enough interest, I'll post more pics below. IMG_5608.JPG IMG_5609.JPG IMG_5609.JPG IMG_5610.JPG IMG_1005.JPG IMG_1017.JPG IMG_1054.JPG IMG_1082.JPG IMG_4373.JPG IMG_5624.JPG

I have few promos also. The oldest i still have from childhood is the 62 300. The detail level in the plastic promos is the best. I have the green 65 Monaco but am looking for the beige or light gold one.
Got a few few diecast but i stick to 1:25 & 1:24 scale.

I almost completely lost interest in model cars right after being of driving Age, but the traditional promos fascinated me eversince I learned about them. What keeps me from getting started is considerable additional costs and being overseas, snapping up something at flea markets or swap meets is about Zero.

Yeah, i forgot about them as i started to drive also. Mom, bless her heart, put them in a big box i probably didn't open for 20 yrs untill i found what some of them are worth. Had a connection at GM Tech Center through work to order the annual Corvettes. Only just built that cabinet recently during a basement remodel.

There were only seven different promos offered in Plum Crazy. At a show many years ago a seller had all seven in a display for sale. He would only sell them as a set for $7,000.

If it haz wheelz I like it but they're are only two promo'z that ever really got me excited. Your '61 iz one of 'um but I would have prefered the '61 wagon had it been produced, which it never waz whimper whimper. The other iz the Turbine Car and I've never been able to justify the cost of that puppy to just sit on my coffee table OUT OF THE BOX and get dusted occasionally , Jer

the only hot wheels c body ever made was the 1968 plymouth fury police/fire chief car. the police in 1969 and fire chief in 1970.
matchbox never did a c body. majorette did a 1971 fury police car but it is an extremely rare and highly coveted casting. I managed to find one in an antique store when i was little and never knew it.
the only other i can think of is the racing champions/johnny lightning 1967 plymouth fury.

if you look at the earlier pre 65 c bodies, there were a few. matchbox did a 1961 dodge in the late 90s. lone star did a 61 dodge as well in the early 60s. revell did all the 1961 chrysler models in ho scale back in 1961. racing champions did a 1960 plymouth in the mid 90s.

Jo-Han models was contracted to do the promotional models by chrysler. for exclusively c bodies, they did the plymouth fury in 1960-61, fury iii from 1965-68, chrysler new yorker from 1960-61, chrysler 300 from 1962-68 and the imperial crown from 1967-68. all but the imperials were converted into kits and issued for one year before the castings were destroyed. these are referred to as "annual kits" and are just as rare as the promos. the 1960 plymouth was converted into a wagon and re-released in 1975. the 1968 fury iii was converted into a fury i police car and re-released in 1969, then again in the mid 70s and has been reproduced many times since. the 62 and 68 chrysler 300 were reproduced in 1975 as well. the 1968 imperial was never released as a kit but a replica of the promo was issued in the early 1980s.

mpc had the contract with chrysler to do the dodge promos. they did the 1965 dodge monaco, 1965 dodge 880 convertible, 1966 dodge monaco 500 and 1966 dodge polara 880. same as johan, converted to kits and the molds destroyed after one year. the molds were used to make a custom show car called "the magnum".

other companies did unauthorized replicas in the 60s. IMC did a decent 1/32 1965 plymouth fury. Palmer did many c bodies in the mid 60s but these kits are some of the worst replicas ever made. proportions that make a cartoon look accurate.
