1972 Dodge Polara Coupe - $4,000 - Bolingbrook, Illinois

FB Description

1972 Polara, selling for my father. odo reads 14k. I was given the “ran and drove” when i parked it speech. Engine is not seized, feel free to bring breaker bar/ratchet. Would prefer not trying to start it, unsure of fuel age. 4k obo, just taking up space.

I'm disappointed at the under hood shot, I was certain BB. Could be a sweet deal for someone especially if there's Bucket seats in there.

I reached out. Seller answered a couple of questions but then balked after I insisted on photos of the rust-prone areas (rear quarters, trunk pan, bottom of rear window, rear rail extensions, front stub -- this is an Illinois car after all). Told me that my request for those photos showed that I was "not interested" and a "tire kicker." I am sure it will sell, but it won't be to me.

Funny that, as I was genuinely interested in this triple-black Polara Custom -- even more so after I saw the M4X9 vinyl interior (improved bench, no buckets). Note the cornering lights and the cruise control, another couple of pluses in my book. I might even have bought it on pics only and taken a gamble on the engine, if only the seller (flipper? note the trailer) had just given me some clue about the state of rust. Oh well...

He's a douche. He wants an idiot to buy so he doesn't have to explain anything.

i am not buyer, and discounting boorish seller behavior, my "no questions answered, pick it up tomorrow" cash offer would be $1,500 because its black, a coupe, and has decent features.

not a penny more without proof it ain't a rust-bucket.

i get it .. deadbeat buyers abound out there.

but me, like ayilar and many others of you -- well we aint @#$%& tirekickers. just folks who know and love these cars and certainly with intention and capability to pay fair prices for them and then to invest to bring them back to life.

sellers gotta know if they really wanna interest legit buyers, they gotta take the good buyers with bad - and answer questions about what they are selling. good buyers ask the relevant questions .. easy to separate them from time wasters.

moot point anyway .. i am just bitchin' about ayilar's experience on this one. i get it a lot and I will NEVER deal with those sellers not matter what they are hawking.

really hope it finds a good home vs. derby fodder before getting recycled.

I used to own a 1972 Polara so I have some familiarity with them.

The front valences on those cars are made of plastic, and it is almost impossible to find one of these examples that has one intact - as far as I can tell, this one seems to be intact and the license plate is attached.

Also, my car was about 70K miles and its seats were the same ones as in this car, and despite the fairly low miles on mine, they were split at the seams and generally worn out really badly - for some reason, some of the Dodge B and C body seats in that timeframe had lousy vinyl that didn't go the distance and split at the seams because the vinyl was so weak. Those seats are immaculate by comparison.

In looking at the underhood, there are still a lot of orginal components on it.

The dashpad also looks pretty nice as far as I can tell also but it is hard to be sure. I can't recall the last time I have seen one of those models with an uncracked dash either.

It still has whitewalls on it and it appears the original wheel covers.

I would not dismiss that it might really have 14K miles on it...................

Hopefully it gets out of that jerks hands and into someones the will do right by it. At Least it's not repainted some gaudy color and has autozone scoops on it. It has the Hubcaps even.

It's getting flipped...again.. - 1972 Dodge Polara Coupe - Joliet, Illinois

"1972 Dodge Polara. Runs and drives well. Very very clean! Has one dent that can be taken out with minimal effort. Body is very solid and interior is in excellent shape! Very rare find! Must see it to appreciate it! Asking $5500 obo. Don’t lowball me or else I won’t respond. This car is worth what I’m asking but there is a little wiggle room. Everything is there and everything works! Selling because I just grabbed another old school and won’t have space or time to do them both."

Between the 2 sets of bad pics, I think I see... Rust on the driver door skin (1st sale), Rust bubbles all around the wheel opening and some sort of patch work on the lower 1/4 (2nd sale)... IL plates are enough to scare me off... but seems like a neat enough car originally... if the current seller isn't a tool, maybe better pics will be provided.

It continues to surprise me how many folks do not know how to read a 5 digit odometer. Given the wear on the lower right corner of the brake pedal, I would guess 114K miles and given how nice the seats are, I would also estimate this car really was driven by an older gentleman as mentioned in the first listing who didn't weigh much given the nice condition of the seats and drove it around town a lot for the brake pedal to be that worn. The driver door sill plate is corroded pretty badly so I would indeed look for some body rot that isn't being disclosed. It does seem that the car must have been garaged most of its existence given how nice the interior actually is. I would guess the current seller bought it for $3500 and wants to make as much as $2000 to get it running and flip it.

It looks just like the triple black one that I bought two months ago. That one has 108K miles on it and is fully optioned with a standard 440.

NOT MINE - 1972 Dodge Polara Coupe - $3,000 - Dallas, Texas

This car does look like it has an am/fm radio with cruise control like the one I bought. The one I bought doesn't have any rust which was a real plus and I am very pleased with the car. It came with a lot of receipts over the life of the vehicle from its original owner. I am now its second owner. I was able to find all the nos trim for my car already so it is ready to be restored.

A friend went to look at it, as he is looking for a classic for his father.

Car is a rusty.

Winter beater. 1500 firm. You don't know what you've got. Not at all.
