Tux has arrived

Here are a few more pics of the old dealer ship.
Great new owner of the dealership. Retired and bought it to preserve, his interests are mostly prewar Dodge Plymouth. He deals in old service manuals, rows and rows of books. If you need something he may have it.

When I got some food in me, I started cleaning the Musty interior. I started with a misting of white cleaning vinegar, then a mild disinfectant from simple green.
Interior cleaned up nicely, still need to work on front seat, deep soiling. Any tips on cleaning white leather, send along.

i nearly bought this car from dave but the logistics because of a closed border ( shipping east to Toronto then up over the lakes then west to BC added to the cost of shipping it to Victoria which made me decide not to buy it).
kevin mccabe looked at it for me and took excellent pics.
here they are.
i can also send them directly to you if you like ?

Washed Tux down this afternoon, looking really good. went for a drive to air out after wash. Ended up at a car show/cruise night. Saw some good people and cars I haven't for two seasons. Few more things I need to sort, some real obvious, some will take some effort. Brake booster, easy. Head lights, one low beam on one high beam on, dash indicates high beams on. No driving lights when switch pulled to mid point. I am shorter then I thought, tip toe to floor it. (ha ha)
Lots of great comments from show spectators and other car guys.

Nice! More photos of the 1955 De Soto parked next to Tux? Or of the red Dodge in the background?

Ok, I will get you photos,. I did not take tonight.
The 55 Desoto was a baby hemi, very nice car and owner, that loved the Imperial.

Beautiful Imperial - the black shines nicely.

Leatherique tends to clean leather the best in my experience but seats might also need to be redyed again to get them back to white.

Your Autotemp II issues are halfway solved it seems to me since you already have the Performance Analysis Company's (PAC) aluminum controller under the hood, and they are known to be pretty durable. If the system doesn't even turn on at all, it is most likely a simple vacuum check valve in the system (there are about 3 of them as I recall but they are pretty accessible) that has probably failed. Getting an Autotemp II tester is not a bad idea either. Hopefully the previous owner also bought a new amplifier for the system when he bought the new PAC controller. They are located behind the glove box so they too are accessible. PAC also offers help in getting the systems to work if you give them a call - very helpful/knowledgeable guy there. He mostly deals with Mercedes Benz customers because MB bought the rights for the Autotemp II system from Chrysler but upgraded the controllers like the one you have so they would actually last more than 2 years before needing replacement.

How many miles are showing on the Imperial?

Very nice find.

Thanks for tips Saforwardlook. 67000 miles, 10% fast on speedo.
I have collected the full three book service manual set, for some easy reading suspense.

3 hours washing, 3 hours clay bar rub down 5 hours polishing. Looking good, I went light on the polishing for first pass, hood got two passes with the polish as it looked like a pool table at a frat house.
Things I need are owners manual, head light dimmer switch, brake booster. I will be adding to the list. If any spectators have sources for the above list, please share.

Love your Coronet, too, as I have a '66 500 I've owned for 41 years. I had a '73 Imperial in Blue with blue brocade and leather interior and white top, both pictured below. The Imperial was repainted by the guy who bought it from me, and he has owned the car over 20 years, now.

Very cool cars. The yellow Coronet at the dealership was not mine, I think it was the dealer owner.
My Coronet is a 67 wagon all original paint(whats left of it)from LA.
