I was wondering how well these heavy haulers came out in comparison tests and here is the first review I have seen. I personally do not like the looks of the Jeep and much prefer the Escalade but the differences in the vehicles are interesting given their circa $110K price tags.

To my eyes the Jeep looks like a stocky adolescent wearing braces while the Cadillac looks relatively sleek and more upscale.

The basis of their winner was interesting as well and unexpected:

I never thought Id ever see the Family Hauler hit the 6 figure mark.. Thats CRAZY. I like them both, but only as an observer!
 
I really don't care for cars with catalytic converters.

To me those modern cars are always butt ugly.

Seeing the price tag I rather buy a 68/69 Hemi B-body for that money and continue to cruise around in an old worn Mopar as daily driver.

Maybe I just refuse to grow up:D

The Jeep grille has sort of an "electric shaver" look to me. It is also chrome. I like it. I think it would look better in a different colour than white though. The Caddy has that GIANT grille that's very popular right now, which I don't like. It also looks like it's sporting a "chinstrap beard" like some kind of hipster.

From the side I like the Escalade better. The blacked-out pillars hide the thickness of the pillars and make it look like a "hardtop". The slight kick-up of the bodyline towards the back breaks-up the length of the truck and looks good to me too. On the Jeep, both the shape of the outline trim around the window and the black roof make it look like it's wearing a hat. The kick-up at the back of the rear side window doesn't match any of the other bodylines, and isn't really emulating the look of any other current Jeep either.

Nah, nothing that romantic: you’re just someone who can tell appreciating vs. depreciating assets :)

ok, I might be able to do that.

But that never stopped me from buying cars I should not touch for financial reasons.

I am in the market for a 57 New Yorker 2dr HT in certain colours or 58 Desoto Adventurer. But I know that their market peak is probably passed already and they rather loose value instead of gaining it. But I am into old mopars for Love&fun and not money:)

I don't like either much... but haven't had the guts to try to acid test them... my test would be vehicle damage created by low speed, improper, merge techniques and my tendency to spike the throttle for maximum effect... so far a 99 burb seems to be the champ for Orlando traffic... Plus $3600 purchase price in 2008, ran through 4 sets of 70k mile Michelins with only basic servicing and 2 fuel pumps. I'd never get over the cost+stress of having either of the other two as my DD.

Tires... wheels stayed on... my trip to Carlisle this year... blew LF, then blew the way too old spare.

I will likely never purchase another new vehicle.
Prices have soared to where it just isn’t financially wise to do so and there’s just too much complexity and unnecessary things in new vehicles.
My last new car that I purchased is a 2015 Ford Fiesta base model that I purchased for commuting to LAX 55 miles one way). It doesn’t even have a remote control. Not one option. Manual windows, seats, I paid 15k for it with 6 year, 0% financing and it gets nearly 40 mpg.
Regarding SUVs, I will stick with the 2 7.3 turbo diesel trucks (and a 5.7 gasser). All crew cab shortbeds (the diesels are 4wd). They will likely be around long after I am gone.

Figuring everything based on car payment $$'s, Ive been driving free for over a decade... actually, may have made money... I've never fixed most of the accident damage, which has totaled more than my initial purchase. Was quoted at least 6k to paint her at one of the damage appraisals, decided against it... too likely to find another genius n traffic.
