A500/518 into 1968 Sport Fury

Can anyone tell me if surgery is required to install an A500/518 into A '68 Sport Fury? Specifically, will the trans tunnel and/or crossmember need to be cut to get it to fit? Has anyone here done this swap?
a and b body yes haven't done one in a c body yet. i would be prepared for some kind of tunnel work

Yeah yeah Yeah I'm here

What do you want to know???

I don't get notifications on PM's or I ignore them. I'd never get anything done.

To my knowledge I was the first to do this, Like Butch was to put a Hemi in a C. It's been ticking along some 40K later with no hitches. But I am going to make a new trans mount. . . I am afraid the new power I put in is too much for the existing one

Pretty simple really

I did a 72, which has a larger tunnel than the slabs. But all I had to do to the tunnel was pound a dent into the floor to allow for torque room.

The trans mount is the hard part. I have some pics somewhere, it's 4 years ago. I was the first to do a C Body. Best thing I ever did.

You have to consider the fact that the cross member is part of the subframe and the torsion bars are dependant oon the cross member. In order to get the trans to line up properly, you need to cut the trans support in half, make a stout replacemnt mount, bridges and braced to compensate for the T bar torque and still handle the transmission. I used the end pieces and welded in a steel plate. My mount is really crude, but works. I;m going to focus on that this year. I mat be able to yse the original 518 mount and 2 plates
