SOLD - Going to Canada

Certified Police Speedometer. From a 1977 Gran Fury Police Car. You guys know what it fits..note though the numerals are different in 1974 than those shown. Mechanicals are fine, electronics not sure, a few bulbs missing. Going on Ebay evening 9/11/14 and three-four times until sold.

Any member interested now or at anytime just send me a PM and I will take 15% off my minimum acceptable price. I wont say here what it is because people can just google the auction and it will come up on Ebay and maybe as a post here on the Forum too.

78 NYB and Newport has the fuel & Amp gauge in a stack of gauges to left of the speedo. It just wouldn't look right with 2 of each.

Very cool. Too bad I don't have any Monacos or Gran Furys

No guys.
You send it to an instrument restoration shop for a new face silkscreened without the two gauges
That one is so yellowed it needs to be sent out anyway.

That one certainly needs a new face...those numbers look brown!

How does it differ?

'74s end in small 0s. They were a one year only piece. Very hard to find. '75 they switched to this style (all numbers same size). However alot of civilian cars (120 speedos) still came with small 0s. I'll post pics when on the puter.

The size of the "0"'s is that important?

Heres a certified '74 speedo

Heres a certified '75-77 speedo (one installed in my car) as well as same in thread.

And heres a shot of the certified speedo, and a original civilian speedo out of my '75

Also not the difference on the alt gauge read outs. '74 is -80,+80. '75-77 is -100,+100. Civilian is just D,C. Some differences....

In the world of bluesmobiles, it is one of the "holy grail" items too get, as it is seen in the movie. Just another piece to making the car 100% correct. In a way, just like restoring a car, trying to make it as close to accurate as possible. Also saught after if restoring an original '74.

Heres a screen shot from the movie-

What makes this happen . old age, heat, UV, all the above? The one I just sold was from a car that spent its whole life in Denver area until I bought it in 1998...most of that time outdoors.

What does it mean to "get it sent out? I infer that's a refurbishment process? Never saw an occasion to do that..all my "trailer queens" (non cop cars) were pristine and didnt need anything. for the all-original cop cars I thought it added some "character" so it didnt occur to me to do anything with the discoloration..

Here's the one from my 76 Montana Car..its still "white-ish"

Here's the one from my formerly owned 74 -- white-ish going to brownish at high end

One from my 77 VSP Black car..same as the 74 above

Last by Border patrol car..it spent 15 years in Washington, and 10 years in Arizona. pretty dark all over

I've never seen so many cop speedos in such a short time. Welcome back Ray.
