I have been looking for some new parts for the newest convertible and one of the places I had reached out to was Hydro-E-Lectric. I insist on the original material for the top, well liner and boot. The boot MUST have the clips and NOT the snaps that so many ruin their cars with. They e-mailed me back with this response and I thought Id share it with my convertible brothers here.

If anyone has had experience with these parts from this company or the ones listed in the e mail please post away

Thanks Dave. I had been wondering why C bodies had snaps instead of the clips I'm familiar with on B bodies I've had since I had seen so many C bodies with clips.

Never had a good look at yours with the the top up and boot cover on

Above you can see the clips under the boot clipping under the molding That is the original boot on my car and is date coded with the plant location on it

Below are the only snaps on the boot or the only snaps that should be on there, at least on the 69s and 70 Cs

FWIW, My boot is a Legendary and has the clips. It fits OK, but I think it's a little too tight. I was told that the original boot from my car was used for Legendary to copy.

The previous owner bought the boot and top (also Legendary). The top isn't original material or color, but it seems to fit well.

The liner is Legendary too. I bought it last summer. It's a very good match to the original.

Good information John... Thank You.

I need to replace the Well and boot on number two

I should add... The previous owner ordered a different color/material top than original. I would bet Legendary has the correct material and color.

I wonder John, I wonder.... I guess I will have to dig some more

I hate the current grain thats on there, its just not right. The only color tops available on these cars were black and white WITH GLASS back glass.

check the catalog, but i believe that the boot and well liner are cheaper directly from legendary. plus, legendary has a sale quite often, just ask the sales rep. when i ordered my seat covers i asked about any sales and was told that if i could wait a month there was a sale coming up.i'm also looking for a well liner and i will order from legendary based on past experience. also, be careful with the tension cables as they have odd ends on them and aren't reproduced. i had to get used from nigel and at the time he said they were the only pair he could come up with out of all of his cars.

This raised my curiosity about my '66 Imperial. It has a fairly new top WITH snaps and a plastic rear window. Looking at the FSM on page 23-77, it reads "...lower the top completely. Fasten the top boot over the compartment snapping it at the sides and rear." It also reminds the owner to unzip the rear plastic window before dropping the top. So, at least the '64-5-6 Imperial convertibles have a boot that snaps in place, versus the later cars.

I would've thought the car would've had a glass rear window and a solid boot.

I got the top with glass window for jazebelle from ARO...... Looks like the original, fit perfect. (the picture in the link is actually my car).

My boot is from Legendary, very nice. I paid $300.00 and picked it up at Carlisle last July. My well liner is still the original but the legendary product looks good. I might go for one myself.

The 66 Mopar convertibles used a plastic rear window. Glass in 67. The tops fold differently so to put a glass window in a 66 one needs to install a 67 top assy.

The snaps are also correct for 66 I believe.

he said off white, is that the original colour..? and did you say glass was original to the 70 as well..?
Not sure what " off white" means. The original top on #2 is white... Dodge didn't specify off white when new so I suppose that "off" needs to be clarified.... Will?

Yes 1970 had glass from original..... to the best of my knowledge

Great discussion, and timely. My fury has the original dust cover that is going to be replaced, and I will know more what to look for. I plan on swapping from black to white, and have been talking to Original interiors and they so far seem good. Hope to hear more about them as far as quality. Thanks

I've always heard Dantes is great to deal with and is cheaper than YO and going direct to Legendary. He sells their interiors

He appears to be a little higher that what you pasted in first post Dave but he does full package deals on interiors and you may be able to work with him on the top.

I buy all of my parts from David Radcliff over at Roseville Moparts. I have found that he at least matches the best deal I can get from anybody and in most cases beats it. I recently bought the top, rear glass and a set of 21 replacement boot clips for my Challenger that I will have sewn in to the original boot which is in otherwise great condition. The boot clips are 5 bucks a piece. The top and the glass curtain were made by Electron Top, and was ordered through Legendary and the material looks great. It's not yet installed but I suspect there will be no issues.
