I had been searching on most Mopar sites for the clips that sew in to the cover when the top is down and found out that the part number was dropped ny Chrysler in the nineties. However I did find out that the part number is 2878538 and these are simply not available anymore but another clip sold by Profit ( and others ) is the same and this has been confirmed by other buyers on other forums so I ordered the required amount 29 ( bought 30 ) I tell you what US$210 for 30 clips that you can hold in one hand is pretty rich but what can a guy do, no good taking originals as they were a hard plastic and will most likely crack with sewing in after all these years on the shelf, the repo ones are a soft plastic. I will post pictures of the finished cover when the clips arrive and are sewn in. Have to have car ready in 7 weeks to chaufer the wife and sons to the ACDC concert in Adelaide in November. too loud for me I will go to the Pub.

Geez.. You can buy a complete boot from Legendary for $307. That would have the clips already installed.

Hi Big John, Tried that they only sell complete covers with the push studs and I did not want that and that price was US$ add 29% to the AU$!!! Bob

Not so....... I got mine, (69 300), from Legendary. It's as original, with clips and fit perfect.

They will also sell just the clips at $4.00 each. B body clips are a different part number but will interchange.

Something isn't correct. On pages 200-201 of the Legendary Chrysler catalog, it shows the correct plastic clips that are used on the convertible boots and they are the same as B body. The description also mentions they use the correct clips already sewn into the boots as well as some of the push snaps that are on the ends of the boot. Someone has given you wrong information about the Legendary boots for C bodies I believe. Unless proven wrong, I am in agreement with Big John and the Legendary catalog. And I have an original top boot from my 1970 Chrysler Newport convertible, so I confirmed that the photo in the Legendary catalog of the boot clip matches the ones in my original boot.

I have a Legendary boot on my 70 300. The snaps work just fine.

I was told that mine was the first boot they made for these years with the original boot being used as a pattern.

My well liner was replaced with a Legendary piece. It was the wrong one that they sent first. They say their pattern came from a 70 Chrysler. I had to send them my original to make it fit. Should be the same, get this, mine was bigger

Like anything it can depend on who you talk to. When I contacted Legendary for a vinyl top for my 70 Newport Custom, they said they didn't make that one with my rear glass and kind of rudely wanted to get off the phone. He did say call Acme but no he couldn't help. I was like what the heck? I called Dante Parts and he said let me talk to them and sure enough I got one through him but he's a Legendary distributor.

I am sure that different sales people we talk to might not be familiar with our models, but I do have a cover, a new one with Legendary's monogram on it that came with the car when I imported it from National Muscle Cars (" being an auto sales company they are like most I suspect, do as little as possible to get as much $ as you can") but no clips only the 3 either side which are push studs. I figured keep the new incomplete cover and buy the clips and have them fitted. Anyway the car is just a week away from coming out of the shed " did I just say that? " its been so long in there. The weather is warming up and suddenly my mates have come out of hibernation and are wanting to organise car runs and pub crawls, I just love this time of year the girls are in their short skirts and cut down jean shorts, bikini tops and the like, suddenly I feel an urge to cuddle the missus catch you later!!! If you use a good 2 part epoxy mixed with plastic shavings you can remold and shape new tabs where the old ones broke off and get some more life out of your old original boot for an investment of just a few dollars and you won't have to undo/redo any stitching. Worked for mine and is holding up well.

You really do qualify as a C-body guy ..... :poke:
