When at the wreckers yesterday I found a what looks to be a '78 Imperial Lebaron 4 door, there was not much left of it but it's wheels were long gone, and it has rear disc brakes. How common were these? It's the a first for me, I almost ripped it out from under neath right there but all I had was a set of keys and a tape measure with me. If they are rare I'll be going back this week to rip it out along with the master cylinder.

It doesn't matter really what year it is, it's virtually the same body as the NY'ers up here from '76-'78. What I wanna know how rare these rear disc brakes are.

I have had the opportunity to buy the rear disc setups several times over the last few years.
Rare? No.
Not common? Yes.
They come along when you aren't looking for them and you can't find them when you do want them.
When I have seen them for sale, nobody ever bought them and they went with the car to the crusher.
Also, I think it's God's ironic way of punishing us because it always seems it's the derby guys that find the cars with the rear discs.

75 Imperial, rear disc brakes.

And no this car didnt become a derby car. the guy still has it. But the Bumpers did!!! LOL

Rare = Very few were built, and seldom seen, even when new. A Hemicuda ragtop is rare.

Scarce = Very few seen today, but many existed when they were new. A '73 Duster is scarce. So are disc brake '74 and '75 Imperials.

Yes, Virginia, there IS a difference.

my bro. had the same year car as in the pic with same disk brake setup. they didn't work and very ex. to fix. probably why nobody wants them
