For the trans gurus..

Well so much for a simple input shaft swap. First picture is the 66, it's a bit different on the output shaft than the 69 I pulled out of the fury.View attachment 127377nice to know the 69 has a 4 gear up front. Here's the 69.View attachment 127378 Oh how I love learning curves... I am so far from a transmission guy. A buddy knows some gurus down in Roseville he's gonna call tomorrow and find out the best rout to take from here. Crap I might as well rebuild and put a kit in at this point.

Again, THANK YOU for sharing this data! I have a 1977 727 which I would like to swap in for the 1966 version now behind my 1966 383. I see from your issues that at the very least, I need a torque converter which will facilitate this transplant. I too had considered swapping input shafts, until I saw your more recent posts.

If I have some issue arising in the future beyond trivial maintenance, I hope that by sharing the tale here I can help some soul as much as you've helped me.

Some of us give a lot of help and some of us need a lot of help. Unfortunately for now I'm in the needy department lol. Glad this post could help!!

I'm hip. I've never torn INTO a transmission before, but given current circumstances, I foresee having to do so soon. When I do, I'll post you. For now, I'm going to get Type F and see if I can stop the leak. Type F gives me some clutch back, which the modern piss doesn't.

Didn't end up doing a rebuild. The clutches and disks looked to be in good shape per my transmission buddy. So for now I've got a front transmission reassembly under my belt. The question is did I screw up?lol we will find out soon. I did swap the 2.9 kick lever for a 3.8. Hopefully I can feel a bit of a difference. These tfs aren't as intimidating as I once thought. Now let's shove it back in the fury.

And yet another failure with this motherf&$@ car!! I really need to park it until I can afford a new trans or just part this thing out! Not having the ability to throw money at this POS really hinders my ability to get it back on the road. Don't be surprised if it ends up in the for sale section.
Well I'm about a pint low on fluid, I have a perfect reaction when I put it in reverse, and almost zero forward gears in 1,2 or 3rd. It does move but barely. Really thinking about 86ing this thing!!!

Checked level in neutral?

Don't give up yet, sounds like it will have to come back out and be opened up though. Have your trans guru go back through and check everything.

Feeling defeated. My 1st Mopar's giving me **** I'm thinking I think I need a band adjustment. I changed the kick lever and didn't adjust the band. Maybe my gurus a a few enlightenments shy!!!!!

The front band is only applied when it's in second gear, so I don't think that's your issue.

You should have adjusted the band though.

We're out beyond my experience now..
