For Sale 1958 Chrysler Crown Imperial Convertible

I seem to keep learning about these cars even after all these years. I thought swivel seats were first introduced in 1959 in Chrysler products, not 1958, or maybe it was in Imperials only in 1958? I am not sure what the extra power button on the door panels is for. This car has vent window latches, and if it had power vent windows, should they have the latching feature? maybe it is power locks? Nicely done overall, but it seems for the money being asked, the seller would fix the wiper motor so the wipers would park. I am pretty sure the exterior color is close to correct, but I am not so sure about the color match on the interior. This car had to be a bear to restore to that level but being low miles to begin with had to help. Based on the engine compartment, I doubt it has been driven much since the restoration.

The car is very nice, but there are mistakes. Indeed, seats are not 1958, they were indeed introduced for the 1959 model. It runs on 15-inch rims with 1959 hubcaps, and the window switches and power door locks switches are not period correct (looks like they are 1956 or something like this). And it's missing a few parts, like the chrome piece that joins the left and right mouldings below the trunk lock, in addition to the rubber "shield" (not sure how to call it) that is below the rear bumper and runs from left to right. Regarding the color, can't say, one would need to see its dataplate. The leather pattern seems correct.

You are in France, and yet you have quite a bit of knowledge about these Forward Look cars. I am impressed! Nice!

Well, I owned a 1958 Imperial that I sold 3 years ago, it was a original export model (with the 260-kph speedometer and a LC/Low Compression Hemi). So, it helps a bit to talk about those 1958 Imperials and the likes :).

I let you imagine how wealthy the owner must have been, to buy such a car back in 1958, at a cost of around 5.4 million francs (around 13,000 dollars of the day), and driving down the Champs-Elysées (the dealership was not too far from the Arc de Triomphe). Très chic ! :)

Now there's a green car I could get used to very quickly!:wideyed:

The only "Crown Imperial" models ever built were the Italian Ghia limousines. One would think at this price, they could get the model designation right (Imperial Crown), but I digress...... these metallic colors (to me, anyway) say 1968 and not 1958, but it may be correct. Still, it DOES clash with that interior. I agree with our colleague from France, the swivel seats were not available in 1958, but at least it's a somewhat period correct modification, probably not easy to install either.....

It looks like Cypress Green was a factory color in 1958 but I question the color combo. I think Spring Green or Aztec Turquoise are better matches to the upholstery.

It would be perfect in my book of it was Aztec Turquoise with that interior. Missed the boat on that combination.

Agree the colors tend to clash a bit, but the other thing I noticed is lots of wrinkles in the upholstery. Door panels, kick panels, seats both front and rear. Must of been a DIY upholstery job?

That said, I still love the car. Always wanted a '59 but this ones close enough, considering both are near unobtainium.
