OK, so I have a question. I laid down some Dynamat extreme to help with heat and sound reduction within the cabin. I also purchased a 12 square ft piece of 1/2" thick Dynaliner. I was going to lay this down in the front of the cabin to additionally help with any heat that might come through. My question is, has anyone else done this? If so, did you remove the matting that comes on the ACC carpet?

I'm a little worried that if I put down the Dynaliner and don't remove the matting from the carpet, the carpet is going to fit like crap due to how thick the insulation will be at that point on the floor.

As I know everyone likes pics, here's one with me half way done with the Dynamat.

You won't gain anything. Why remove one insulator and replace it with another. Your carpet will fit better, (ACC needs all the help it can get in the fit department), with the juke mat. A little advise, be sure to reinstall your front seat before trimming the carpet at the sill plates. ACC tends to scrimp on material there and when you tighten your seat mounts it will pull the carpet.

If you are really worried about the cowl lower area, there is a spray-on sound deadener/heat reflecting product called Lizzard Skin. It can also take the place of the dynamat-type products, too, on the inside. Follow it with some spray-on undercoat for cosmetics, if desired, or the appropriate body color paint. Whatever works. Saw it on Saturday Morning "power block" a few years ago.

The DynaMat-type products are usually interior floorpan area items. Not cowl areas, for obvious fitment reasons.

Be SURE to make sure that it perfectly conforms to the floorpan's little dips and contours. ANY "holidays" will result in a small place for moisture/condensation to collect from hot/cold ambient temperature cycles. Over time, a place for rust to form, same as the solid rubber floor mats in the trunks (or front floor foot wells!) do over time. Only thing is that with the solid rubber trunk/floor mats, the mats can be removed to let things dry out. Can't do that with the DynaMat-type products.

Might need to cut it into smaller pieces for a better fit, even if it might have a few small gaps between the pieces.
