1974 Chrysler Newport | S15 | Kansas City 2017 | Mecum Auctions
I have never participated in a Mecum Auction. Just wanted to share. I have been watching this one from afar on FB.

Only 5% of Newport's had 440's. Looks like a clean car but that picture of the rear bumper rust is very disturbing. I would put eyeballs on this car before bidding on it. Whoever detailed it did a great job! That interior is stunning!

I'm not a huge Formal guy but I love this one.
I kinda like the idea of a Nupe better than the NY in this case, like the hdtp vs the sedan, the color is rare and striking, and I have always loved those wheelcovers - very elegant! And the 440 is a nice touch, too.

1978NYB - If the bumper rust you refer to is this, look closer - I think you are seeing an upside-down reflection of fall foliage behind the car!

Slight paint mismatch between the front fender/door, but still a nice car.

Obviously you'll be following the auction, keep us posted please.
This is a VERY nice looking car, even in red.

The seller offered it to me before he prepped it for auction...he knows my love for red C bodies via FB. I'm just waiting patiently for 2018. I'm hoping to close on another red Imperial soon.

Taking a second look at this and you are right. It is so rare to find Formal's without some sort of rust. If any ones looks at this car please post a picture of the fender tag. I sure would like to see the factory options.

The Mecum auction sell price will provide what I think will be a fair price for Formal's. So we will see if the CB's are right or the dreamers think that these cars are worth a small fortune.

I guess I gotta go $3550, then. :D

Who's the 'local' expert to decode that for us?
Is the 999 for 'special order' here, like on the older cars? Is that the red paint?

Yes.....

Special paint car. J VON and Y39. too. Sweet.
