well our newly elected Premiere of Ontario wasted no time in allowing Sihks to go without a helmet riding in Ontario to try to solidify votes for the next provincial elections by allowing them to ride without helmets citing religious reasons
On the other hand they may not be around to vote riding in Ontario
The cagers here are very aggressive these days thanks to little to none road law enforcement by police so the problem may not be as severe as first thought
Way to go Mr Ford
You may not have the Sihk voters after all...

Except the new premiere of Ontario is none of those,he's a Trump style populist.

How did he ever get elected in Ontario? I am enough of a Libertarian to think that folks who want to ride without helmets should be allowed to do so as long as they sign a release so taxpayers are not on the hook for their medical expenses when they smear their heads on the highway.

I think the previous Liberal government wore out their welcome after 14 years in power and voters wanted something different.

The Sikhs without helmet thing is really a nothing burger anyways.I mean how many Sikhs in the province are motorcyclists? 100 maybe?

well our newly elected Premiere of Ontario ...
Since you brought up this guy, I have a query about his other mission. I have no dog in this fight, but curiosity is getting me. How does the provincial government have any say in how many councilors any city has. To me it seems that decision should be left up to the constituents of that jurisdiction.

I agree with that for the most part but it's a slippery slope. What about the motorcyclist with the minimum allowable helmets? or ones riding in shorts and t-shirts? should they have to sign a release or not get medical coverage? or have to pay for half of their care? how about other dangerous activities like skydiving? should taxpayers have to pay for their hospital visits?

If I was dumb enough to ride without a helmet,I wouldn't feel entitled to free medical care but others certainly will.

Socialized medicine, a great way to regulate behavior. I did not advocate riding without a helmet, but also don't believe it's my right to tell anyone else they have to.
It's not free healthcare, and people take chances every day. No helmets, outdated brake systems or just being out on public roadways.

Fortunately and unfortunately we have free health care and rumour is that the immigrants get better service than the natural citizens
Welfare free along with other social services that natural citizens can’t get unless we claim to be fleeing oppression from another country
Even the age old veterans are screwed when it comes to benefits
Our current PM made the mistake of telling a vet in a public meeting that he was asking too much from our country recently

This is one of many that served in the military in one area and he was injured but the government is casting them aside like damaged goods leaving them to fend for themselves yet we welcomed thousands without any way of being a positive influence for Canada
I’m not saying all are like this and I am sure that there are many very happy at a chance for a new start
It’s out of control...

It’s an age old problem and once the country is laid to waste and we will run to another country willing to take us in

Living peaceful lives in Canada is going to be a thing of the past in the future

So I’m getting off my pedestal and go back to my own life of trying to survive day to day...

Have a good day everyone

Um, so it's not free. ;)

Of course it's not free. It's "free" in that the taxpayers foot the bill. It's not a perfect system and we could certainly do better but the alternative American style healthcare system isn't a good solution either.

I agree and understand that there are many US citizens without health care coverage

This is a great problem far greater than the size of a thread could ever cover

Let them ride without helmets it increases the odds of them not surviving, less medical care and eliminates the bad growth.
Win-win

Quite honestly the whole seat belt/helmet issue is a stupid, slippery slope of behavior modification that never should have begun. No evidence has ever been presented that proves "cost to taxpayers" because every death could also represent a "saved life" requiring 60+ years of very expensive care. But that's why Actuarial Analysts aren't frequently in the conversation.

And btw, working on your old-timey car is a heluva lot more dangerous than stamp collecting or needlepoint. Don't tell Uncle Sugar (or Uncle Maple Syrup).
