What does this relay do? I tried looking up the number online but couldn't find anything. Pulled from a 72 imperial.

Start with the Parts manual as Big John recommends. There should be a numerical section that will point you to what it is.
It is helpful to know what part of the car it came from? Under the dash? under the hood? any wires connected to it? If so what color. Sometimes the electric schematic in your FSM can help track down the name and function of it as well.

should the number I'm looking for be the 3513581 or the 93596-A? I've found 2 online with the 93596-A part # but the top line is different. They are the headlight on relay

The top 7 digit number is the Chrysler part number.

The bottom could be a vendor p/n but I am not 100% sure.

Relays have MORE than 2 terminals. This is not a relay.

I don't know what it is, but it MAY be a timer/delay type of device. One terminal for the +12V or signal input and the other terminal for the signal output. Ground would be through the metal case to chassis.

not in the part book and the only post on google with that number is this post on Cbodiesonly.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

often part #s on relays are not in the part book so this is not unusual.

If I remember correctly, there is one of those (similar in size and shape) attached to the back of the instrument cluster on a '68 Fury....and it had to do with 1. Instrument panel lighting, 2. Alternator gauge, or 3. Fuel gauge.............senility really, Really sucks!. As previously pointed out ( I think) Don't relays need to have 3 spades (plus a possibility of also providing ground to the solenoid via the metallic case/attachment bracket)? Whereas resistors, one way current check valves (diodes), circuit breakers, buzzers, and by-metal flasher units all use two spades........... Take it to a reputable CB Radio shop and invite him in on the quest. He will have many avenues with which to test the thing without cooking it. BTW, is there anything on your car that is now NOT working?

I believe you are remembering the instrument voltage regulator which this is not.

I ran into the same problem while parting out my '72 Imperial parts car. It's not mentioned in the Parts Catalog, but it's in the Wiring Diagram.

Its the Head Lamp-On Reminder Buzzer Relay (Without Head Lamp Sentinel Only)
