Since none of the interior manufacturers produce reproduction 1969 Polara 500 seat covers , I'm wondering if any of you know of a good upholstery shop that can make them by duplicating the fair condition originals? Thanks...

Check with the new car dealers' service departments in your area (not just Chrysler, but GM and others) to see where they send their vehicles for "warranty work" on seat covers. As if one particular panel wears or gets torn in use, for a panel repair. These shops HAVE to do work that is indistinguishable from the OEM factory work.

When you find a shop, make sure you get the same style of seams that Chrysler used OEM, not the easiest-to-do type. See if they have the old fabric/vinyl swatch catalogs to order the fabric from. This is like a parts book, of sorts, for vehicle fabrics/vinyls.

Just some thoughts,

Dave , it took me one try to locate a shop that would and could redo the interior on my brown 71. My demand of the exact stock appearance that it left the factory with wasn't a problem. They did it almost stitch for stitch grain for grain.

Sounds like a plan... seat covers are in pretty good shape so there are nice patterns to work from, and foam is excellent...the search is starting... thanks gents

Any auto upholstery shop should be able make your seats if you have enough of the originals to work from.
SMS should have original material.

A local guy did the seats for my Imperial. No repos available on this pattern. He used my old seats and made the pattern to match. Before and after pics below. If interested, PM me for his info. I'm about 40 miles from the WI border, so this may be sort of local to you too.

My suggestion is to call Dick Guerno at United Upholstery in Fond du Lac WI. He has done many jobs for me and my friends. He is one of five full time employees.

What town is your guy in, Tim? I might want to have the Newport bench re-done.

He's in Algonquin. I have the receipt with his contact info at the shop. I'll send it to you when I am back there.
