Today I was able to take a couple of pics of the radiator support build tags as requested a couple of months ago. This is a ex-Washington State Patrol car with the individaul police build items added onto a Fury III car. The car is not a "K" code vin car.

yes, but the Y39 will not always be on the tag. But on the broadcastsheet

I have never seen a "list" of letters for the start of the VON's and their meaning. Is there some basics?

I do not have a complete list but over the years you learn a lot of stuff. Some of the are ie

B=canada
C=canada
E=export
K=special order
M0=show car
M9=sunroof car
Q=public relations
T=chrysler release
W=dealership rental car
G=sunroof car (in 1971)
J=first letter of all Super Bird VONs
M=all VONs of AAR Cudas

There are also various special order paint jobs which have a a VON starting with "9" in example

You can try stockmopar.com, they have a list of fender tag codes.

I also have a purchase document from Chrysler noting it being sold to the WSP and a build sheet that was decoded by Galen Govier. Inside the drivers door jamb it has a WSP ID (I think it was car number 689) I tried to connect with any person or agency from the WSP and ran into nothing for information or drivers.

I'm currently restoring a 1972 WSP Polara Custom, cloth/vinyl interior,woodgrain trim,carpet,and rimblow horn. I hope to have some photo's posted soon.

What color is your car? I was told in your years (1972 era) that they had two color of cars. The white ones were front line Troopers and Sergeants and above drove gold colored cars.

there is a reason why some of those who knows the meanings will not publish the lists.

a really good reason !

My car is white with blue interior. I've seen a gold Polara on you tube.

I need to resize them so I can download them to the site,still trying to figure it out. An old guy with an old computer this might take awhile.
