hi all just got my hands on a 57 imperial. Has the 392 hemi. Push button trans. I can’t find the build sheet anywhere in the car. It has certain features that I think it’s imperial custom. Has the benzinomatic quick defroster, both exterior mirrors. And a imperial crown interior package, but no crown on the fenders or over the name plate it has power everything. The data tag says it’s an imperial base model. Stupidly I didn’t take a pic of the whole car. I will get one soon.

I will definitely post some pics. Thanks for the data plate decode FredNY66.
The guy I bought it from let it sit and
Rot away. It hasent run or drove since 1990 something.

Hopefully it hasn’t rotted away too badly.

Love it! Looks very complete.

Great automobile! Looks like its got the gas heater option and is a later model run as evidenced by the fender stay brackets. You've got the optional power antenna and right-side mirror.
Needs a vacuum tank and power brake booster.
Where has it spent most of its life?

I guess it wasn't possible to get the instant heat heater and a/c on the same car in 1957! They would have occupied the same space. I had not seen an instant heat setup before - very interesting. Car seems to be in good shape body wise, so I am interested in whether the underneath is just as good looking.

If you are going to do a pretty complete restoration of the car, you would need a lot of the parts Gary Goers used to supply. Quirey Quality Design has taken over his business, which is very good news for those of us with those projects ahead of us.

Good luck with the restoration! It will look great again I am hoping - so maybe keep us in the loop as you progress.

Thanks

Nice Imp. there Andrew, you done good Guy. Love the 2 door, Jer
Steve, How is Gary doing? BTW I haven't talked to Gloria lately. A few of us still breathin' are proud to call him our Friend. Glad to hear he finally hung up his spurs and got the business sold. The business still in Kalispell? OR? Jer

Hi Jer,

Gary is still struggling with infections in one of his legs and they had recently taken more of that one leg off, this time above the knee. He has really been through hell on this ordeal. Gary has been a friend of mine for over 40 years now, and he helped me do the body work on my 1957 300C that you have seen many times now. That was when he still lived in California.

I am relieved he was able to sell his business to Quirey Quality Design in PA. They will be reproducing most all of his parts and even upgrade some of the molds and processes to make them even better. I think they are the best outcome for buying him out of all the options he had, and certainly good for those of us still kicking and wanting to maintain or restore one of these cars.

One take-away from what Gary is going through, is that if you smoke - stop now. The fact that his legs won't heal is due to a life long habit that he should have let go years ago. I have a friend who instructs surgeons in putting feet/ankles back together and he has told me many times, there are cases he gets that can't be fixed due to long term smoking. They just can not heal.
