Scarlett the New Yorker

Haven’t thought about it honestly. Wanted to go last year but ended up being deployed.
I plan on driving the Chrysler sometime this summer back up to Connecticut and putting it in storage until I get out of the military. I suppose I could bundle in the trip and stop in PA

Lost my storage space so rather then let the car fend for itself in humid coastal weather I’ve decided to put it away at a friends house until the summer time. Hopefully work on the brakes and reliability every so often until I can make my trip up north. Probably drop the gas tank replace the lines. No more daily driving for a while.

Fit the car in the garage last night. Cleared the door by less than an inch and front end touching the wall.

Thanks for your service!:usflag: Hope you can make it:thumbsup:.

Thank you for the support. Hopefully I can go and snag some good parts for either car. Got a wish list going for the Fury

You're very welcome, I never served but we have a daughter that retired after 23 years in the Airforce. There are a ton of vet's here on this site. Many thanks to them all!
I'm thinking that @BLUPORT works at Camp Lejeune. Is that where you are stationed?

Just found this thread...great car and a great story.

If I may make a suggestion...a NY should have whitewalls when the time comes.

I do in fact work on Lejeune, you've got a pretty good memory for an old guy. :poke:

Yes sir. I’ve seen a few C’s around the base but never have gotten the chance to talk to them. There’s a blue ‘67 Newport Sedan w/ a mod top. A black ‘65 Imperial. A guy I bumped into with a ‘69 Polara and Monaco IIRC. I wish I could remember his name. He’s probably a member here.

When I got the car it had brand new tires on it - and me, being the cheap bastard that I am, don’t have the heart to trade out perfectly good tires on a daily driver. But shhh. That’ll be coming soon.

What part of base do you work on? Main side? Snead’s Ferry?

I'm on Mainside. MITSC-E.

Last night I saw a video that said there was a radioactive dump near Lejeune and consequently the water is polluted...any truth to that?

It's not a radioactive dump. There were a LOT of chemicals that were dumped improperly for over 30 years, resulting in contaminated tap water (that's putting it lightly) and many people developed some pretty horrible cancer as a result.

I was main side out in Wallace Creek but I just got orders to Stone Bay. I drive through Richlands every weekend with one of the boats. PM me sometime!
I've heard there's a gathering of old cars next to the Hwy 55 restaurant on the first Friday of every month. I should have my Newport on the road in a week.

What are you guys using for gaskets for your cornering/signaling lamp housings?

Mine seem to get soaked every rainfall and when there’s humidtity in the air. The gaskets seem like unobtainium and if I found one - who knows how long it’d last.

Went with a friend to go buy a Pontiac in Wilmington. I didn’t realize we’d stumble upon a show. @BIGBARNEYCARS Why didn’t you let me know!
Happened to be a ‘69 300 there. Also a ‘68 300 convertible, TNT, The owner purchased it brand new. There was a few other interesting Mopars. ‘70 Challenger, ‘71 Cuda, lots of Road Runners

I received a quote from TTI to get a dual exhaust made for the car, manifold back. Just need to find a good shop that I can get it installed at. The exhaust leak is pretty annoying so itll be great to get t back to speed.

I also love driving this car too much to put it in storage - so i ended up getting a cover for it at this point.

Dropped off a set of road wheels at a shop to have them blasted and painted. Next thing is a set of white walls. Taking some time to try and clean up these rings and centers as best as can be
