Where was this Mopar Brochure/Ad Photo shot?

Canadian City, left coast, across the harbor, park, last parking stall before crosswalk.

Alan

I slipped words from O' Canada in #238 to direct folks there.

Ok, so yeah, I picked the "park" too, parking lot inclusive of crosswalk satellite view as that lot did NOT illuminate (meaning Peg Man cant land).

did you get street level view too and note the date of the view in upper left corner?

heck man, you gotta solve #215 then ..nobody else in the world has yet :)

your search intuition is good and you're in the right part of the world.

Some of the others of you who are good at this might find the exact spot of the car, but i cannot yet.

There are spots in Google Maps where the camera car didnt/cant drive. And in this particular city, the best spot for the car, to me, is NOT accessible by Peg Man.

So there is NO street view available .. unless i am in the WRONG spot OR the Google Map photos are OLDER versions (from before the spot was accessiible by car).

So my answer, unless I have a breakthrough, will be location and a satellite view of where I believe the Tesla is parked.

Well, there it is.

I should have known. A pic I took in '05

#236 Vancouver, British Columbia, on Stanley Park Drive is where the Tesla is.

The clues were designed to get you to the city/country with relative ease with a few google searches.

What caught my eye in picking the photo was the building with the arrow.

At first glance, Space Needle, Seattle... but it looked too short/background/city placement/water placement not quite right.

Only other cities I knew of that had a similar structures were Niagara Falls Canada Skylon Tower, Stratosphere in Vegas, the one in San Antonio (I forget the name), CN Tower in Toronto and the Lookout in Vancouver. I know NF, LV, T, and SA well .. so I knew "not there".

Bing bang boom -- had to be Vancouver. Never been there but after surveilling the joint, that was it. Now where is the car parked? I knew Stanley Park, but where?

I picked the WRONG lot in Stanley Park. I was too far East.

Anyway, MrMoparCHP had it cold and 300rag got it and posted the money shot. I agree with 300rag.. waiting to see if MrMoparCHP is with us since he had it first?

Car is in orange circle, Lookout Tower in orange square. then 300rag's pic, then satellite view where I THINK is the same spot MrMoparCHP found and where 300rag pic is as well.

See if we can leg out a few more from this tired old thread: Where was this photo shot?

Three hints as usual, and googling the photo directly is considered "cheating" :):

1. In a US state that touches four of the five Great Lakes
2. Building is 100 years old, but was renovated recently.
3. You could get gas here in the distant past, but now you might just "get gas" here

One tough baby and a 'Dude" for first correct answer for exact city and name of this the place in this photo. Any gearhead locals in this particular place .. maybe let game run for other folks to give it a go? If you're first correct answer, PM me and you'll still get a baby and a "dude"

Anyway, PM me if you want to validate your guesses. Answer posted in two days or less.

Close??

menu celebrates classic mechanics' fare, too: Angus burgers with bacon on house-made pretzel buns, wood-fired pizzas, meatball pies, and Union mac and cheese. The original owners' apartment in the back is still intact, too, and it's now used for private shindigs.

Three hints (locals can weigh]in of course but please let game run):

1. North American city
2. "Shopped" dealership photo (vehicle is in a showroom.. that is not the view from the showroom)
3. Dealership is really in this city however

A Dude for city and dealership name.

Dude with a gold star if anybody can find the location in this city's metro area where this backdrop may actually be viewed.

300rag excels again. Thanks for letting it run

i gotta go on vacation (seriously), so if we can knock him off his spot so he loses his rhythm and might not get the next one :)

Denver Colorado, Skyline Mitsubishi in Thornton (suburb of Denver) Colorado. They use the Denver skyline "shopped" ads for mostly all their cars.

So, how do you get this view? Very difficult even if you got the city right .. if you dont navigate the visual clues.

This view of Denver is NE looking SW. You know that because the tallest peak (to remain snowcovered year round) visible from Denver is Mt. Evans. You orient (with Google Maps or similar) downtown Skyline to get Mt. Evans over the buildings in the photo.

You then know to get the buildings to appear this way, implicity you are positioned northeast looking southwest.

The view is clearly telephoto given how much of downtown you can see between the camera and the city (in this case 20 miiles) . This implies an elevation to the northeast of downtown and tall enough see the distant, taller mountains over the skyline and the foothills.

Line of sight then leads you directly to the airport, either the tower, or perhaps 1 or 2 other buildings with access.

THe shopped Skyline photo was taken from the gravel roof on an elevated structure, far away, but northeast of downtown. Assuming this view is NOT an aerial/drone photo, nothing along the line of sight is tall enough except .. a Denver airport structure.

300rag and I agree on this conclusion .. if somebody catches up with this game, and thinks different, great. our evidence is circumstantial but we think very persuasive.
