68 Newport with twist

Also a few years back I removed the auto heat/air system and installed on earlier model system. Picked out up original controls for it and floor vents as well. Nice to have air movement down there. Crap pic but they are coming apart for paint so will show better later.

Ammeter fail on previous owner and I would like to fix. Going off to search but if anyone has info on hand post away.
Simple.
Run a 10 gauge wire from the BATT stud back of alternator to the BATT studd of starter relay. At relay use a 14 gauge fusible link or in line 30 amp fuse.
Done
Optional is an aftermarket ALT gauge. plug into a switched 12 volt source and ground it to body. (Dash, firewall, etc)
Ammeter will not read but at least the car will function.
Replacement Ammeter gauges are common on E bay.
I also have spares if needed.

Was hoping to fix or replace original. Have had a replacement wired up since purchase of car. It's out of cluster now and nothing visibly cooked.

Regardless, keep the bypass wire in place--it will save your car from burning to the ground

Working on templates for woodgrain. Put down 3 or 4 layers of tape then transferred that to Bristol board. Glove box was easy. 2nd attempt required on gauge one

Removed old vents and installed screen to fill void. Bent screen to fit behind and used premium construction adhesive to bond. Plan is for speakers mounted inside.

Does anyone know if the steering column cover for a 67 Newport is plastic like the 68 and does it fit the original metal dash?
If the stock is plastic will probably just bend a new one up.

Got all the dash panels painted today as well. Only this pic so far and parts have to stay at shop tonight. Not allowed to dry parts Indoors in winter. Or bake them in oven anymore.
Factory had 2 tone of silver and black. I just did satin black
