I noticed several members here enjoy O gauge trains, but my Father got into HO trains when he returned from WW2.
He built a railroad room as a part of our first home (which he and my Uncles and my grandfather also built). He and a few friends built a massive layout and as a child I enjoyed "playing" with trains, eventually buying a few of my own, along with the usual Christmas gifts.
After having to tear down that layout when we had to move due to job changes, re buying our home and building /tearing down another unfinished layout for the same reasons, my father gave up on model railroading and turned to R/C planes. Everything was boxed up and placed on shelves.
Many years later, I would open those boxes again and decide it was time to build some kind of layout that would feature my Father's talent, plus some things I had made. So I started to build a small shelf layout and while not finished, it's starting to move along. It's modeled in the "transition era" between steam and diesel, which is what my dad enjoyed. He loved steam engines.
If you model in HO, please post up. Thanks!

Good luck on your mission. Remember we FCBO members love pictures.

I am ... Sort of.

Everything is in boxes, as I do not have the space yet to build a layout.
I have a diesel New York Central 20th Century Limited consist.

I am partial to HO. My sets haven't been set up since Christmas 1995.
After that I bought my two kids born in 98 and 99 027s and those have been up every Christmas since.
Most of my stuff dates from the 70s and early 80s when I also had two 4x8 plywood sheets set up in the basement . As a kid though its tough to finance a hobby. ( plus records, bike parts, pizza, beer cans and model cars).

Y'all have seen some of my O gauge stuff. I'm mostly O but do have a handful of HO. Nothing to brag about or show off, besides it's all boxed up for now. Atheran locos that have been converted to can motors by me, they run so much smoother, more power and quieter then the standard motors.

I have a small bunch of early 60s vintage HO stuff boxed up from my childhood.

I can't remember his handle here (I think he's a member here - he was on the old DryDock forum), but Rob Brogle has a wonderful custom layout in his home - a work in progress that's going to be magnificent.

I didn't want to be the first person to post pictures...
The rust on this box car is real. Roof and doors are steel. Sides are brass. The car is likely older than I am.

I started my interest back up two years ago, from my set I had from the late 60s that my dad got for me. Now it is something to talk to my father in law who just got into it 3 years ago.

I have no space to build a track at home. Trying to figure out if I can suspend one from my ceiling in my shop and then drop down when I want to play with it.

My dad had a bunch of HO rolling stock and some buildings, but never has been able to make a layout, other than a figure eight we had on a table. But his love of trains wore off on me, I live to go to the train shows and see the setups they bring in. Lots of work goes into one. I hope he gets to build a layout soon, it would be sweet to see .

I hope he does before it's too late.

HO has always been my scale.
Haven’t started new layout yet since I don’t know how long I’m staying in this house. Got a nice 30’x13’ corner in the basement just beggin for a nice layout.
This pic was taken to demonstrate the difference in scale between 1:64 (gto) vs true HO 1:87 scale automobiles for another thread.

Three years ago I had to take apart my HO scale train layout when I moved. At the old house, the layout filled two bedrooms with two tunnels through the wall to connect the two sections. I have the entire layout somewhat back together as one large layout in the basement of my new house. But, I need to completely rewire it before running trains. All the wiring pretty much had to be ripped out to cut up the layout in managable sections for the move. These pics are before the move. And yes, the autos are the correct 1/87 scale. Not a whole lot of pictures showing the track here as I had already started ripping up some track at this point for the move.
