What is it with '68 300's that have '67 front ends?

No way any left the factory that way.

My opinion, the 68 is more coveted than the 67.
The 67 nose is easier to come by than the 68. So, if one had front end damage, accident, rust repairs or broken pieces the 67 is easier and cheaper to use.

Just my thought

More accurate would be "grille added when wrecked"

I think you're spot on.

There's no gills on the fenders and no marker lights in the bumper, so the entire front clip has been replaced. You can see in the pictures that the paint prep is pretty atrocious. Looks like one to avoid.

I even notice that the passenger side rear marker is square like a New Yorker but the driver side is round. Such sloppy work! And yeah, I noticed the paint job was poor

"Lots Of Fun And Compliments Comments!" <fixed>

I wonder how long it will take the new owner to regret the purchase when all the car show questions are asked.

I still have mine for sale in the backyard. And it’s a CONVERTIBLE!! Solid floors and trunk. Will need lower quarters fixed. I bought it without the drive train just to save it!! $500 takes it. Clean Florida title. I know the clips worth that much. Needs a better deck lid.

This is the third time I've seen a 68 300 with the front end of a 67. Unless I'm seeing the same one in different places.

Accident repair? Could some of them left the factory that way?

1968 Chrysler 300 Series | eBay

Hello!
The '68 and '67 Chrysler 300s do share the same fenders....I know from personal experience having been in possession of a '68 300 from 1968-2019; mom and dad bought it new and I just recently sold that car. The hood profile is the same, too. That's how they were built. If you look at the sides of the lower leading edges of the front fenders, left and right, the profiles are the same. Newports and NYers are dissimilar from 67 to 68. THe grills are definitely NOT the same!

The 67/68 300 grill profile is similar, if not identical, other than the hidden headlights. My doors worked fine from day one to sale, solid electric motor. And that 440 was and remains FABULOUS!
