This year, it's just me, my wife and grown sons, plus my dog. We've never been big on grand dinners, so it's not really different for us from previous years. No relatives (they never come by, anyway!) or any of either son's friends. I refer to them as "rental kids", as at least one of them is omnipresent, or it would seem! Turkey and all the fixins, just on a smaller scale than most.

My son's had always got a free turkey from their jobs, so we had one each for Christmas and Thanksgiving. This year- different jobs, no freebie turkey, so my wife picked one up last week.

Christmas? Dinner will be homemade Tamales, sticky rice and mole'...oh, so delicious!

We will be doing the traditional turkey dinner. State officials are urging everyone to stay home or do a "virtual thanksgiving". They can go pound sand as far as cancelling the dinner is concerned.

We had an early Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house Saturday cause she has to work on Thanksgiving this year. My wife will invite her parents over on Thanksgiving day for a traditional Turkey dinner. Her aunt and uncle may come over to along with my other sister and niece.

Pictures worth a thousand words...

Thoughtful Patrick :thankyou:.

Because it is my last Thanksgiving in NJ and the last in the home I've lived in for the past 25 years we will have a crowd of at least 13.

I will be cooking the Turkey, Ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn...
Others will bring a side dish and pie.
We will be crowding it up on Christmas eve, Christmas dinner, my " In between the holidays " crab legs & shrimp dinner and New years Eve.

Wife will be cooking turkey and other stuff. My 2 kids will be home and they'll cook other stuff. Me: I'm banned from the kitchen because whatever I cook turns out burnt, disgusting, or both. My wife has cooked for 27 years for just that reason.

Our family is doing our own thing this year with no other brother/sister etc family members, still havin the turkey and everything else

Jeannie and I will be making sure my mom and dad aren’t alone that day. I’ll be smoking a small turkey on the Weber.

Nothing will change for us. Family and friends will gather as normal, cram into a small area and talk ****.

Not sure what we are going to do. My cousin’s daughter is supposed to be married on that Saturday in Iowa, but that entire series of events is up in the air with the Governor’s latest additional lockdown requirements.
I will check with family here in South Dakota and ‘sempre Gumby’ it.

update: wedding is being held with immediate family only. Reception is postponed.
My girlfriend and I are not going. Plan B: Spend time on a few projects at my girlfriend’s house and getting her Crossfire running. Me thinks it’s a fuel pump relay and / or pump.

Eating turkey and breaking the overlords rules.
Gonna be a great day with the families!

Anyone ever fry a turkey? I've never had the desire to, honestly. After a buddy burned his garage down several years ago when he tried to fry one that was still partially frozen (!), it's never been a desire to fry a turkey.

I have deep fried several turkeys and a few tri-tips.
All were delicious!
Situational awareness is paramount.
