Hell no, I'd never pass the psychical/personal training to get to that point, heck if my doctor ever says 'Stress Test' I'm out the door.

Just some notes about the 2021 DAKAR off the top of my head.
Seems that it will be in Saudi Arabia for quite some time (6 year contract?) South America was nice but Chile was out of the question as they have almost a civil war going on, Bolivia same (border skirmish with Chile and indigenous turmoil) and I guess Argentina canceled out after all the fans getting killed. So they were left with Peru (richest country in the world) They were supposed to go into Brazil but that was around the World Cup time and Brazil thought better not I guess.
Africa, well we all know whats going on there and I doubt to see them back there in my lifetime.

Elite Cars & Trucks will be Hydrogen Powered by 2025/26(?) with all vehicles being Hydrogen Powered by 2030.

New 'Classic Class' this year, that's why you see the VW.
Route sheets for cars & bikes given out in the morning not the night before. Trucks will get a pre-programmed tablets.
What else, some alarm system to warn about dangerous areas.
(edit) another thing IIRC bikes have a limited number of pistons that they can replace. Tires too I think are more limited now.

Interesting but definitely out of my league.
Fees
Yep but there is the Malle Moto Class bike category which my take on it is the bargain rich mans Dakar Track Day Experience.
Bargain is that you will have no support crew.

"There is no help. From anyone."
"No assistance, no professional support crew, no backup team, and no extras. It’s just you, your bike, your smarts, and one metal box with your essential spare gear."

Plus you will have to have completed in "candidates must have already completed a leg of the FIM Cross-Country World Cup or a "Dakar Series" race."

Like the Isle of Man TT it is the Mount Everest of Motorsports.

I have to correct myself as this is now the (branded) 'Original by Motul' class. I don't know when it changed maybe last year when they went to Saudi Arabia.
I didn't pay too much attention last year when I heard it going to Saudi Arabia as they practice there and the videos I saw of that I just thought dunes, dunes, dunes, nothing but dunes. Come to find out Saudi Arabia to the north & west has some very interesting terrain. BUT! Being a closed Kingdom what would the fans be like? I wasn't going to see all the South American Fan Videos like I have been enjoying the past 6/7 years obviously, but it was funny to see one fan vid of the fan pavilion and how much of a ghost town it was, especially at night in the night club area that was alcohol free. LOL

Some more landscapes from FB for those that don't go there.
