Ammo for no electric cars

Porsche is working on a new synthetic fuel that'll allegedly make ICE cars as clean as electric cars, without doing any special mods...

A year or two ago I found and read a well put together and cited article about the actual emissions of EVs. That article showed that EVs fueled by coal-fired power plants are producing the same CO2 amount as a gas burning vehicle that gets ~26 mpg. Let's assume that is true. So is Porsche just going to double charge for a gallon of gas with their logo? :rolleyes:
 
I can't wait to see what kind of EV beast the SRT Team delivers in the future. Maybe an SRT EV in my fleet while I'm still on the GREEN side of the earth. LOL

Once again our governmental central planners are doing the only thing they know how to do, destroy. I think this ties in with the opinion piece I posted on the first page.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency did what the gov wanted to do, for him. They just made an electric car mandate for Minnesota car dealers. Not what they want, but they get to bend over and take it. The mandate is for 18,000 electric cars annually to be on dealer lots, because the MPCA thinks it's going to save the planet. The dealers association president said the gov would not talk to them, never responded to any requests for discussion. He let the MPCA adopt California's rules on EV's. They claim they don't want to ban gas powered vehicles.

So they get to get approximately 16,000 electric cars that no one wants to buy. Current sales of EV's in all of MN is around 2,000. The dealer president said they do want to ban gas powered vehicles.

This also killed an E15 regulation farmers wanted. So biofuel isn't the future either.

My fears are becoming reality. I hope I'm wrong.
 
This policy will continue - I continue to be amazed by the uneducated people who think that electric vehicles are going to save the planet, ban all petroleum using vehicles and more importantly - vote.

As long as corrupt politicians such as pelosi have financial interest in electric vehicles they will continue to force it even though market reaction indicated very little actual interest.
 
The 2%ers know that to keep amassing an even bigger disproportionate of wealth in the future is to go non-fossil fuel. They are heavily investing in it. So much so, they they are using their power and wealth through every avenue possible, including buying the Governments of the world to insure it.
Resistance is futile. Get in step with the rest of sheep or you'll be culled out and severely punished.

It makes no financial sense to own an electric car, IMO. You are figuratively tethered to where you can recharge. Impractical on any kind of road trip - who wants to hang out at a recharging station while your car gets charged up? An hour? Three?

Yet, I'd love to have an EV to drive to work, as my commute is a mere ten or so miles, and a charge would last a week with that limited usage. Add the big car payment, and it no longer looks attractive at all.

What does the used EV market look like? Is there one?

This is hilarious and downright ridiculous. Let's see...last time I looked at Minnesota, it is downright fuc*ing COLD there, as in -40F and C. Anything electrical loses a certain amount of energy, the colder it gets. Does anyone with a brain think an electric school bus is gong to function at all in that? With the energy a larger electric heating system alone on a bus would use; to me, this makes absolutely no sense.

Seriously though, just follow the money and I'll bet you'll find most of those pushing these policies and regulations have a financial interest.

Currently, EVs are guinea pigs that will develop battery technology. If a breakthrough occurs, then they may become viable, but until then, we will all get to pay for the maturity of batteries with taxes.

I went by the Target across from the Speedway about a month ago and noticed that they had a row of new 'Super Charge' stations way out from the store right close to the boulevard on the outer edge of the parking lot, while waiting for the light I noticed about 5 or six what looked like Teslas sitting and charging. It looked like 2 of the cars had someone sitting in the drivers seat staring at their phones, when I got home a rechecked the Tesla site for charging times to refresh my memory.
From a pretty much dead you can't go much of anywhere battery at a 'Super Charge' station to get the battery to the top it is pretty much 1 hour. You can get it into like 80% charge in about a 1/2 hour, this is all depending on model. At home via what'eva of the 2 types of chargers you can have at your house a dead battery to top is pretty much 24 hours so... it's like soon as you get home you should plug it in. They said on the news the other day that electricity here in Florida is going up 3% but in the past 6 months FP&L commercials on TV said they provided customers with a 10% saving due to all their green crap. screwy, My bill hasn't gone down since they got the temporary emergency increase from the 2004 hurricanes but my kilowatt usage has. And they keep building new **** that has more lighting, like our new Orange Ave bridge, it's so fancy & new they got to keep it lighted up all night long. Same with the other high rise Intracoastal Bridges, the old 'Draws' were never lit and we survived just fine for decades. Simple game of supply & demand.

One thing I did learn on the quick search of Tesla charging is there is one place in the USA where let's just say "You chant get thar from 'har" is some route from Texas to Colorado. LOL

I will say that my new Samsung cellphone with the Samsung fast charger is pretty quick now with I think 45 minutes as the most I've seen it show when I plugged it in at about 39% battery left. On the other hand the $10 LiION batteries (2 pack) that I bought for my superbright supertech Bushnell flashlight are just crap after about a month or so. I learned a little bit about those batteries on the net before I bought'em, 10 year shelf life is a bunch of hooey, when the batteries are fresh off the assembly line they are at 100% power/capacity, but within several months just sitting in the packaging they go down too 80%, so fresh is best and eBay batteries that are dated a year or more are stale and not worth buying.
