Without skirts I ran 275/60-15's on 15x8 American Racing Outlaw II's w/3.75" backspace on my '65 Sport Fury. Slight rubbing on very hard turns but otherwise was good to go. Of course, this was just on my car and they can vary a bit.

I hope I have the guts to try this and succeed one day. However, thinking of trying to straighten the rear trunk panel on my '65 Sport Fury scares the hell out of me!

Hows the drivers side rear corner sheet metal? Would you be willing to cut it off and ship it? It should fit in a box. I know '66 is different than my '65 but I have had no luck finding this section and I could make a '66 piece work.

Looking for the drivers side rear quarter piece. Would like at least from just in front of the gas filler door, from the bottom to top of car, all the way in to the inside trunk flange, and rust free. If you know of a junk yard that has it and ships I would love to know!

I do agree that modernizing things is for some and not for others. I plan on going with 17's on my Duster but my C will stay with 15's. My C and A both will end up with OD transmissions and EFI (maybe a late model 5.7 Hemi swap on the A) so ya can't say that I'm against using new tech on old...

I'll second that! IMO, anything over a 15" just looks wrong. I'm sure that Galaxie looks great with 15's. As for it being 2012, if that is your basis, then buy a 2012 car! These are classics and not modern throwaway POS cars!

Same here. 4.5" backspacing on mine causes the tire to rub the lip on turns and such. 5 or 5.5" backspacing is perfect
