Hopping into the ring again to put the word out: looking for anyone who has 2 idle mixture screws and springs for the Carter 4423 2BBL.
Lost mine a while ago while disassembling to rebuild it and never found them since.

Both holes for each barrel, thread-wise, are only around 1/4th of an inch long - the screws I ordered are far too long for it (probably too big for the needle holes).

Only good pictures I can find are these, showing what they look like:

I don't have the parts you need, but I do have a new (sealed) rebuild kit for a '68 383 2bbl if you are interested. It was intended for a '68 Newport Custom we had and just never got done before the car was sold.

Send a picture my way just for curiosity sake - don't think I really need a rebuild kit (I already ordered one a while ago), but if it has the parts I need and maybe some extras I'll consider it.

I got your email over the weekend and forgot to look today. Please call during business hours, and I’ll take a look.

Here are the pictures. I can't say if any of your parts are in it or not and I don't want to break the seal to check.

Hi. I don't want to infiltrate Eureka's thread and hope this fits before I start a new one. Please tell me, if I'm bothering here.

My 68 Fury has this Carter carb. Type label is missing on mine. Can somebody identify this model?

AND: Can I use other Carter 2bbl carbs from e.g. b-bodies or other years (e.g. 66 Coronet 383 2bbl)? Does it need any adaptation on the throttle linkage? The pics here are from Classic Industries. They say it 's for A/B-bodies but it looks exactly like mine. Either they are just using a sample image, forgot to mention the C-body or mine is not original stock.

Thanks for your help.

Addition: I was wondering, if I could use this one instead. Do I need another choke thermostat then?

I ended up using the 1969 Model as well - it fired fine when I tried it, but you need to order the linkage stud and air cleaner screw thread (1/4"-20 thread size) to complete it, which I'm still waiting for. They sell them on eBay, they look like this:

And to answer your question - the model for automatics is the 4423, the manuals used to 4422 - I don't really know what the difference is between them, but that's according to the FSM, so I used the correct one.

And no, my old choke hooked up fine to the new carb - the choke thermostat is just a coil on a linkage, you should have a snap assembly that hooks it together to the choke linkage on the carb.

Thanks for the hint. I can use the linkage stud and cleaner screw from my old one. They are fine.

I was just curious because mine has a third adjustment screw in the back which the other one doesn't have. But there is an additional vacuum nipple at the back. What's up with that?

The reason I brought up the linkage stud is that, if this is a 1968 model, that linkage is probably welded on to the throttle control - I tried to remove mine, to no avail (even ended up bending the linkage trying to remove it). No amount of WD-40 helped either, unless yours is already removable.

The screw on the back I believe is the idle screw adjusting assembly, the line on the back is for your PCV, which is also on the 1969 model, with the addition of the aforementioned vacuum port added on the 69 model - also not sure what that would be used for, but it can be blocked off all the same.

I'm not really sure why they removed the back idle mixture adjustment on the 69 model, someone who knows more would have to jump in.

all right. valuable information here, thanks :). will check the stud beforehand.

PCV sure... So, I just put an end cap on the vac nipple at the back? Where would that hose normally go on 69 models?

and the idle rpm screw is on the same linkage as the adjustment screw for the upper air vent (or throttle?). Is that the right word? Sorry, German laymen here who's yet not into all the technical terms (not even in German ;) ). I'm talking about the one that's controlled by the choke thermostat.

No idea what it would be used for - my educated guesses would be for either heater box controls, cruise control, or some other use entirely. It might help to do some digging in the FSM for the 69 model year and check the fuel section of it, mymopar.com has some of the manuals up there, I have one for the 69 Charger/Coronet/Dart lineup.

darn. I swapped my 69 manual for a 68. but I found the pdf on their site. I will crawl into it. Thanks a lot for all the information.

BTW: Just found out, my carb seems to be a 3684. Those were for older models as far as I know. Wandering what the stock 68 carb was then... Maybe somebody else can jump in and enlighten this whole thing.
