Warning This is a Sport not a game (ROAD RACING) [Type Race, Isle of Man TT].001.jpg

The NASCAR guys do seem to be *****-boys nowadays. That in-car shot looks like a typical rainy day drive on Hwy 85 through Charlotte, probably at similar speeds. :steering:

TT Rocks. Never seem to be any Harleys in the race though... (awaiting ridicule and banishment for that comment, LOL)

I read your post and thought it'd be interesting to see a V-twin "western-ride" type of road racing. Then I found this on utube

Try that riding on 12 inch wide tires with NO tread.....! And suspension set up to turn left!

The NASCAR rain tires have some tread and were only a problem in heavy standing water. Conditions during the recent NASCAR race at COTA at times were worse than that picture posted in the original post. I'm pretty sure a round (profile) motorcycle tire displaces water much better than a wide tire.

I agree NASCAR should run all the races in the rain if it were to happen, at least start with the short tracks. But the race at COTA hit extremes with rain with both visibility and standing water.

True, that was interesting - I love racing. I heard some lap times but didn't hear any mention of the speeds they were reaching. But thanks for the vid, I'd never seen a V-twin race before

Kevin Harvick has always been a cry baby & was mainly crying because he was out of the race due to a crash there were alot of drivers that just drove their car & had fun & didn't complain

Harley's have raced in the Isle Of Man TT but Indian was first to show them up with a 1, 2, 3 win in 1911 although all three finishers were 2 brit's & 1 Irishman.
Indian was the first American factory to field a racing team.
Back then Harley was getting ridiculed for the 'Murderdrome' boardtrack races and was distancing itself from racing and just concentrating on speed & distance endurance runs. This 1936 picture was taken in front of the LA dealership I worked at in 1977.

Harley also got a gold medal in the sidecar class in the 1936 ISDT in Germany.

An American motorcycle didn’t win again on the Island until 99 years later, when Californian Mark Miller rode the MotoCzysz E1pc to victory in the 2010 TT Zero race for electric bikes.

The first American to win a official TT race didn't happen till 1984 with Dave Roper on a 1959 Matchless G50 in the historic class.
Many Harley's were entered in the 1970's & 80's although most were in the Formula 3 class and that would be the Aermacchi Harley which was a very popular bike and did well in Europe.

But the race at COTA hit extremes with rain with both visibility and standing water.

They were saying that the drainage COTA was poor as they commented that Mid-Ohio had similar rain but didn't have as much problem with standing water due to better drainage. Then on the show they started to talk about running races in the rain on the smaller ovals, I guess Na$crap is in dire straights now to proceed with that pipe dream, I clicked out of the uboob feed after that. I only tuned into the race as it came on the radio (MRN) with my alarm turned on for the local talk radio show at 3pm daily. Figured this will be a hoot and turned on the TV just as the rain was getting heavy and thought what a joke, the only people that were laughing were the announcers. When the red flag came out I went back to Indy racing.
