I am going to do a 440 source 512 stroker in my 68 Imperial. When I called them and told them my goals he said I should do roller rockers but said I would have fitment issues using my stock valve covers and would need to do some grinding on the rocker arms to get them to clear. Does anyone know of anyone that makes good quality roller rockers that will clear stock valve covers or stock looking valve covers that will clear roller rockers. I'm wanting to keep the engine looking as factory as possible so that's why I want to use factory looking stamped steel valve covers and don't want to grind on fancy new rockers but I will if that's my only option

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Hughes Engines roller rockers for what it's worth and I have the same stroker kit. Some will tell you Harland Sharp. I don't have stock valve covers though, so I'm not sure about that, but you can call Hughes and ask... great bunch of guys.

mikedrini how you liking your stroker? Did it turn out to your liking? I have now forgotten how you built it. Love to hear about it.

Might some of the taller mid-to-later 1970s rocker covers have more clearance? Or at least be able to modify the internal oil baffles in the tops for needed clearance?

Just curious,

Doubtful because the ends are not any taller than the older covers. Plus they take different breathers and oil fill caps so they look very different than 1960’s valve covers.

Those Comp Cams Pro Magnums are what was specified for my 440 Source 512 build. At this point I do not know if a stock valve cover will fit over them yet. Will find out this month.
let me know how they work looking at them they look like they have more clearance than other ones

I ran the stock valvecovers with the 440 source roller rockers, no issues. I was never able to successfully keep the gaskets from getting cooked and leaking, so i now run fabricated aluminum covers witha machined rail and superperformance gaskets. I just painted them the stock blue color
