I want to know out of curiosity mostly.
I'm trashing them.
There is no year on the tire. All I can find is the Pat. 1971.
Don't all tires have some kind of year identification? Obviously not, but most tires anyway?

Pre-PMetric for sure, but still "metric" sizing. Seems like there is some date code on there, somewhere, for tire warranty uses, but you still have to know where it might be. Unlike modern tires where everything is stamped into the sidewall. I suspect it is close to the "1971" time, but not specifically 1971.

Were these in a stash somewhere?

Enjoy!

US tire manufacturers started using date codes during the '71 production runs. Typically this was a 3 digit code, the first two digits were the week of the year, the last digit was the year. "157" = 15th week, 7=1977. It was thought at the time that no tire would remain in service for more than 10 years.
Starting in 2000 the code changed to 4 digits; same concept, first two digits week of the year, last two digits the year. 1411 =
14th week, 11 = 2011.

To identify tires manufactured in the 1990's, a decade symbol (a triangle on its side) is located at the end of the DOT serial number.

old tires do not have dOT manufacture date codes. Thus, the ones you have might be made before the time they started to date tires
